Bringing back the IROC could be neat (with more discrete badging!).

Also, I believe the ZL1 was originally going to be a Z28 -no slash. So clearly there are some folks inside GM that think a supercharged Z28 isn't such a bad idea.

All this ZL1, Z28, Z/28 stuff got me thinking:
What if GM does both a Z28 and a Z/28? Both have the LT4, but the Z/28 is a 'hardcore' version?

I guess that could be a possibility, if they wanted to follow the Ford naming scheme but I don't see why when they have the ZL1 badge available.

I just want something over 600+ HP for DD from factory and I don't care what they call it. Preferably a N/A 500 HP but I'll take a F/I as well.

I'm pretty sure any track-specific model would be naturally aspirated. It may have internals and a compression ratio that would allow for forced induction, but heat is the enemy. Come to think of it, I guess they could go with a turbo to address the heat better than a SC...? Probably not.

GM will continue with the current scheme.

ZL1 = HIPO FI GT type
Z/28 = Track Car

I guess they could be wasting money contemplating a different lineup, but I would have to wonder to what end? Is someone going to not buy a ZL1 because "Well, i'm just not sure they should have named it ZL1", and "Well that Z28 should have a slash in it, so I'm not driving it".

People said the EXACT thing about why they were buying a "true" Z/28. Meaning All the Z28's were never actually Z/28's but were just called Z28's because REAL Z/28's have a slash, not a single word or a dash.

I would just buy new badges if I really cared that much.
