LOL the Camaro is as well known as the Mustang.

Also, not everyone is on board with EV. I don't know any of my friends or family who want one. The company that continues to offer regular gasoline V6 and V8 engines that are not hybrids will be the one who makes the most profit 20 years from now, mark my words.
The issue you are ignoring is the next round of emissions regulations is going to kill the V8 and V6. This is why Dodge is in the “final call” for Charger and Challenger. It’s why the new Traverse has a turbo 4 cylinder and no V6 (same for VW Atlas btw). You can hang on as long as you can but a V8 will likely live on only in Trucks.

The Camaro name is, yes.

But you talk to the average, non-enthusiast and they most likely still think the Camaro died in 2002 and never came back. That whole Transformers thing was just a show car in a movie. And they may not have even ever seen a 6th Gen.

I thought the fuel economy thing was always CAFE. An average of your company’s product fleet. So if you have a few electric cars the infinite, off the scale economy should more than balance out any V6 or V8.

I’d surmise with just a few C electric cars you could bring back the real gas guzzling days of 8-12 mpg on your average family sedan lol

I wish that were true, but it is not. I can’t tell you how many times a non car person looks at a Camaro, and says, “Nice Mustang!”…especially the 2010 and newer Camaros. I’ve seen it by kids, and some adults, even at car shows! It seems ridiculous to me, but it happens too often.

No way. My wife’s Mustang gets thumbs up and “Nice Mustang” all the time. When someone likes my car it’s often followed by “What is it?”…

It's emissions, not fuel economy, that gets more difficult for large engines as standards are tightened. Each engine family has to stand on it's own.

A side issue with regard to emissions. Back in the late 70's and early 80's it appeared certain that the days of manual transmissions were numbered due the difficulty in certifying them. That we still have them available today I consider a small miracle.

The Camaro, as we’ve discussed, was designed for a very specific, nearly niche customer. It was never designed for wide spread appeal. It was designed for Camaro buyers. That’s who they asked for the Gen6. And we got a great Camaro, but not one that a TV commercial would help. No rear seat, tiny trunk and poor visibility appeals to a lot of Camaro buyers, which is why everyone jumps on you when you bring up those flaws. It just highlights who the car was designed for and they love it. But if you are in the market for an expressive sporty coupe, you are not nearly as likely to accept this flaws. It’s why the challenger sold so well up to end on an archaic chassis. It is in no way a better performance car than a Camaro. But it’s a better every day car for more people than the Camaro.

So advertising would have done nothing to move the needle and GM knew that.

Definitive great commercials. Fire the US marketing department in charge of the Camaro's commercials, and get those guys.

Hey Number 3, you hit the nail on the head with that Camaro breakdown! It's wild how some cars are just so niche that they resonate deeply with a specific crowd but might not be everyone's cup of tea. The Camaro's quirks, like the tiny trunk and visibility issues, are like badges of honor for the true fans. It's like they're in on a secret that others just don't get.
Speaking of niches, it reminds me of the whole "Comparison of On-Page and Off-Page SEO" debate. Just like cars, SEO has its specificities that might not appeal to everyone. The gist is, both have their place, and it's all about finding the right balance that works for you.
