Yep, there are only 17576 three letter combinations!
As often as gm adds/drops colors, I wouldn't be surprised if they are recycling codes lol!

Engine codes are alphanumeric, two letter/one number combination. There are only 6084 of these. No wonder they have recycled LT1 so many times!
In all seriousness, with an effectively infinite number of combinations, it is perplexing that certain combinations are reused.

Brown still seems like an odd color to make exclusive to the Corvette, unless you're Baker Mayfield....although maybe not him either.

HAHAHAHA...brown is a weird one for a sports car....I would not be too shocked to see a Denali or even an Escalade in a color like that. The cars the Vette is meant to compete with also come in some weird colors like this too, so it isnt completely left field since we're talking the new C8.

I think it made for a good color on a Ford probe, but only if a proctologist owned it.

RPOs are a bit more limited than that, though. For example, engine codes always start with L - LS1, LT1, LQ4, LMG

Lxx - engine
Mxx - transmission
GUx - axle ratios
Zxx - performance/appearance package

Paint codes might be Gxx but I’m not sure on that. If so that gives 1,296 possible combinations - less considering other established codes like GU6 or G80.

Like I said, I think it's because that code was used by Holden and not GM North America. GMNA has only been using the 3 digit codes like we currently have since around 2009 or so. Before that, the paint codes were normally a 2 digit number followed by the letter U. Black was 41U from the 80s until the late 2000s for GMNA. Now it's GBA.

To my knowledge, GMNA has never used the same color codes for 2 different colors.

You're correct! I should have considered that engine codes always start with L

Only hyper blue metallic stuck around for more than 2 years, everything else is white/gray/black/burgundy.
Agree with the sentiment. In a sea of white, black, and grey we need bright colors. My list:

1- Synergy Green
2- Krypton Green
3- Shock
4- Rapid Blue
5- Vivid Orange
6- Crush Orange

Honestly I wouldnt mind seeing a bright purple similar to some dodges I've seen. I never see purple cars any more, making it more unique

I’d also like to know if the 2023 Camaro will have a few new colors, Shadow Gray was used on 2019-2022 GM Trucks and is not on the refreshed 2022 Silverado/Sierra pallette being replaced by Darker Metallic Gray and the Sierra has a very nice color called Dynamic Blue Metallic that would be an upgrade over Riverside Blue.

That blue would look nice on a Camaro. I just dont think GM/Chevy really even cares about Camaro sales and colors. The C8 Z06 and the C8 lineup is where all the money is in development and sales.Though it would be nice to see some vibrant colors for 2023.

Very nice color, close to the fabulous hyper blue metallic "of old". It'd be great if this were eventually offered with the Camaro.
