Since older cars are exempt from mandates, they could essentially pry off the VIN number from your trade-in and stick it onto a high-tech chassis with a big honkin' new V8, and make all the buyers happy. If the nannies catch on and make sure that a certain percentage of the car is re-used, they could invent a way to melt down your old car and reform it into the new one. I'd do it in a heartbeat. |

Still hoping for that 340HP 290TQ V6.
GM...give it to us in a 3,300 - 3,400 car. Would be SWEET!!

Evidence of a new line of V6 engines in the works?? I think this could be pretty cool.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...75#post6387875 They talk about the "next gen" V6. I'm wondering if the 4.3 is considered part of this next gen of V6 engines? I'm guessing more use of DI, cam phasing, and cylinder deactivation across the line. I can see is now....."350 HP and 35 MPG highway" lol maybe not but I'd take it.

I never thought that the V6 would be endangered. I was talking to my ex about the rumors around the 6th gen today (not that he cares but I love to torture, he is an ex after all) and mentioned that I thought they would probably do a turbo 4 with about 270-ish HP so it would not compete with the V6 and a new V6 pushing 340+.

If they put a 4 cylinder in the Camaro, they might as well make it a front wheel drive!

We could see both, and I wouldn't expect any Malibu or Impala to suit a Camaro driver.

Here is the problem, if they put the 4 in then most likely it becomes the entry level car. This would be disapointing in that the 6 is a nice motor and with less weight and a few more ponies it would be great for those who want performance on a budget and still feel they have a motor that has a non-entry level feel to it. If the 4 banger was cheaper then todays ls then ok but I do not believe this will happen.

This was posted in another thread, and I thought it was worth copying over to this thread.

The 6th gen will be based on the same car as the ATS and its turbo 4 banger puts out 272 hp and 260 tq, no need for a smaller v-6.

The smaller V6 could be for small to midsize passenger cars, and the larger V6 for large sedans, cross-overs, SUVs, and the Camaro.
