I really want to see this 3.0TT in the Camaro but lets be honest, it's not going to happen.
We're getting a Turbo 4, 3.6L v6 & the LT1 v8. Then the ZL1 & Z28 will both be variations of the v8. I love my I6 3.0 TT in my 335i, easily 430HP/TQ with a tune, and some bolt ons. If we could expect similar power out of the GM 3.0TT that would be trouble for the SS. Only time will tell |

Nice! If the improved 3.6L gets in the Camaro and is not exclusive to Cadillac that will make a very nice car. But I'll take the LT1 too, please. I thought it was. I did the compare with an LS vs LT and they both came up 28 for some reason. But I believe there were some tweaks made to bump it to 30 that you probably wouldn't want if given the choice. There is a reason why it's only on the LS and not the full V6 line up. Thanks for digging that up. Now I know I'm not crazy.

Makes sense. I recall something in the rear axle or transmission that would improve FE at the expense of performance.

This car will not get higher than 34.. Honestly, that's probably a best case scenario for highway.
I'll say the "performance" oriented 6 will be rated at 30-31 and the one with the lower gear ratio will be rated 33. |

My prediction is with the turbo 4 cylinder in the mix GM will have no need to max out the new 6 cylinder.
Start stop has no impact on the highway number. 8 speed adds 2 AFM adds 1 more IF they improve aero, and a slightly smaller car will help I'll give them 1 more So for the V6 I can't get higher than 32.....maybe 33. Kicker is the 2.0t. That needs to be much better than the Mustang as it is what? 40 HP down. 2.0t needs to be 34. Keep in mind aero is half of FE on the highway. Engine/power train is only about 1/3.

The NA 3.6 coupled with the 8 speed auto will be beating the EcoStang thanks to the weight drop, but if the EcoStang is tuned then it'll be the one ahead. I'd love to see a 3.5TT Mustang Ecoboost vs a 3.6TT Camaro going at it. |

I wonder if the Camaro will be getting the ATS aero underpanels.....
The 5th gen is good looking, but not ultimate aero at all. If the 6th gen is an evolution, then expect numbers close to the 2010. (Gain a couple hundredths for smaller size?) drag coefficient: 2010 .37 2002 .34 1991 .34 (don't know how reliable the sources are for these numbers)

Just can't help but think what a shame so to speak it is about all these powerplants....
I believed Chevy and Camaro didn't want to play an un-productive HP numbers game with Ford and Dodge, now it can't seem to avoid doing it with itself and it's own brands.... Seems like GM spends more time worrying about how to not step on the image and toes of Cadillac and Corvette and themselves instead of worrying about how to outsell Ford and Dodge with the best product available... Perhaps it's a problem of abundance, but it seems silly they don't just offer to the customers all possibilities of powerplants.... 70-75 percent of Camaro sales are non-v-8s....I say I-4, turbo non turbo V-6s should be offered....So what if the turbo 6 is within 50hp of the V-8....(I thought we didn't play hp numbers games here?)....The current v-6 (325 hp?) is within 75 of the L99 at 400 hp...nobody says that is "too close".... Oh, well...just a ramble.... |
