"And no offense to Ford, but it’s pretty well established now that General Motors employs some of the best chassis engineers in the world. Their touch is felt in the new Camaro’s prodigious front-end grip, neutral balance at the limit, and outstanding wheel control over road imperfections whether or not Magnetic Ride Control adaptive dampers are present."
Seems like they hate the visibility and that it looks too much like a 5th gen.

He even said that the F body was impossible to meet new 2003 impact standards without so much re-engineering for 2003, that it would have essentially been an entirely new platform and cost hundreds of millions of dollars to retool the St. Theresse plant.

So, the GEN4 would've continued on for a few more years, if it wasn't for the new 2003 crash standards...
I know Scott quite well. Mrs. Number 3 worked with Scott at Chevrolet for years. We consider him a good friend.

I never said the Gen 4 couldn't go beyond 2003. What I said was or meant to, was the decision to not have a replacement was made well before 2003.

A tape drawing is just a side view 2d outline with basic packaging. I never saw an image of the car.

If memory serves 1999 ish.

All you guys that keep posting they should have soldiered on with the LS6 and LS3 until the Gen 5 are completely missing my point. It wasn't the V8 that wasn't selling. It was the lesser V6 that was killing sales.

Making an even better V8 wouldn't have helped keep the car in production. A better V6 coupe that didn't have all the trade offs would have.

Ah, I see - so there is a difference in interior quality between the 1SS and 2SS outside of the leather parts. Thanks so much! That's very nice info!

I'm on the same page. I'm not interested in manual any more. And my wife doesn't like it at all. All the other stuff is right on.

I can see a 2019-2020 special edition in my future. ZL1,1LE,Spring?,Midnight?,2020? what ever they call them or come up with(who knows maybe a 2017 50th if its a home run). I know I will want one but I like having one you don't see every day that stands out a bit but I still want it 99% factory (don't want to mod it).

What about a 2016 100th running of the Indy 500 Pace Car Edition, if they make one of course.

I also expect to hear this argument a lot...

Quote:
The SS model comes standard with Brembo brakes, 20-inch summer tires, and coolers for its transmission, rear differential, and engine oil. It’s the same sort of gear included in the Ford Mustang GT’s $2495 Performance package, only standard. When Ford fans gleefully call out the disparity between the V-8 Camaro’s $37,295 base price and the Mustang GT’s $33,295 ask, this is precisely what they’ll leave out of their argument. (Although that still leaves the Chevy some $1500 pricier.)

For some people that $1,500 is a factor. That is their own personal decision to make, especially if they're not brand loyal

To early for another new car got mines only 2 years ago, I like to try wait 5 years. I plan on 8-10 years but I cave in around 4-5 years. Damn these car makers keep making the new ones with new gadgets and cool stuff and more power.
