I suspect Gen 7 for both cars (the S650 and the next gen Camaro) will see their Halo cars tickle $100,000...I'll be absolutely floored if they happen this gen.

Definitely won't happen this gen. I seriously doubt even 7gen. Now maybe 8gen we will see the halo cars get close to 100k.

But in ten years tesla will have a sub 100k car that will have a 1000km range plus have a ludicrous mode that gets a 3 second 0-60. Electric motorbikes will be everywhere aswell.

I wouldn't put money on tesla even being around in 10 years...without government support they'd be losing money month over month. If that vanishes, so does Tesla

Performance costs money, a lot of people don't really understand that. Especially ones who are not car enthusiasts, or who haven't built a performance car from a stock car before. I just hope maybe we get lucky and get some government leadership changes that will help ease some of this.

Cool, more petrol for me to put in my V8 powered performance cars

Mine's One of the top 5 fastest we've found as most folks can't cope with a 6 speed at the track.

I love my 2016 2SS, but they're completely different animals. I consider myself lucky to own both. I can tell you for sure the Challenger is a much more comfortable highway brawler, but the Camaro handles better, but not night and day better.

The 10 speed in the ZL1 will be interesting, but I worry it'll always be hunting for the right gear. Even the 8 speed seems like a lot to me.

I'd buy a Hellcat in a minute, but I'm married to my Challenger with all the work I've put in to it. Has pricing been released on the ZL1? I was VERY disappointed when Dodge raised the price of the Hellcat nearly $10K from 2015 to 2016. Back in 2015 it was a steal at $58K for the performance you got.
Have you run your HC on a track? How quick?

You guys are scaring me with the reading comprehension LOL. I don't have a Hellcat. I have a built and supercharged R/T 6 speed and it runs 10.80s at about 130MPH.

Agree. If the new ZL1 only matches the HC at the drags but can run with a GT350TP on the track its will be a huge win. Balanced brut force.
I don't think the ZL1 will have any problems with 350TP on the track. I know HP isn't everything but its got 120 more HP than the 350

Yes I completely missed the "built similar to the Hellcat part as well as the 10.80's at "about 130" (whatever that means).
I didn't miss the "musclecar part" though or the part about a Camaro being a Sportscar because a Camaro is and always has been a Pony Car.

Agree, I think the Camaro has always been more sport car than Muscle car, except for maybe in the 60s and 70s, but definitely now in 2016 more than ever.

The "about 130" means the MPH varies from 128 to 132MPH depending on conditions and shift points.

It may still be pretty close still, definitely have to wait and see. An example is how close the '17 GS vs. '13 ZR1 are reported to be, and that's being down ~175hp.

Yes I was there that day Magnusens SS ran a 10.8 on crappy old NT05 DR with friends Hellcat & GTR stock HC with drag radials were running 10.9 - 11.1 with tuned HC with smaller upper pulleys running 10.3-10.6 Both cars stock with DR will be real close drivers race for sure. My ZL1 will be my new Drag car so numbers will come up soon as I get it
