Yup. You'd be surprised how many line up no matter the cost...10,000 people pre-ordered a 2010 Camaro in late 2008...before the March 2009 production date, and before prices were announced.

This will be the second time I've done it.

The good news here, is that everything should be ready to go out of the gate...no staggered releases, delays, or constraints. (fingers crossed on that last bit).

And this is an options package...so long as a dealer can get a ZL1...they should be able to order a ZL1 1LE. Economics alone will limit the production numbers. I wouldn't expect any dealers, except the largest volume, most Camaro-oriented ones, to stock a ZL1 1LE.

GM says ZL1 1LE will be available during summer. Summer is between June 21 to September 21.

If the car is built during first week of June, then it might be available late June to early July at the earliest. This is assuming GM will allow production of the vehicle this early in the cycle. If there are some new features for 2018, perhaps GM may push for some regular ZL1's to be sold first. Then they push production to late summer (September timeframe) for the ZL1 1LE.

If GM was smart, they would get this car out ASAP with availability late June to early July to steal some sales from a potential GT500. Good for everyone that wants a ZL1 1LE and able to fully enjoy the summer. This way you could have a good 3 or 4 months to enjoy it at the track. I mean this is a track focused car. Would make no sense releasing this in September and having very limited track time.

I saw a pre-production ZL1 1LE on 12 Mile in Berkley Saturday evening. Even with all the not-really-painted camo roughness the car looked very aggressive. I did notice the suspension looked rather bouncy without much articulation on mere bumps (it's not a smooth road); it's clear the spring rates are very high to match the Supercar 3R tires. It looked like a track car, not a street car. Those of you expecting cross-country plushness, this isn't your ride.

The huge wing and the front canards are the standout features. Even though it was only a pane of glass between me and the car, I couldn't hear it, but I was also in a lively restaurant.

Yeah and it looks like a Vette (mid engine) was following the ZL1 1LE. Pretty cool.

It's still a test mule. Silver brakes, Z/28 wheels...it's very likely the wheels weigh about the same as the new ones, do, for the purposes of testing...they're certainly the right size...

I'm still wondering if that Vette is a Z06 reboot with modern aero for less drag...

I'm guessing the same thing. Updated Z06, with a much more aggressive Z07 package(s), one with influence from the Z06X C6 concept.

I'm glad b/c I posted a thread a few days ago about using Z/28 wheels on the new ZL1 and have rec'd unclear responses. This makes me think they will work fine!

I think it looks fine with the Z28 rims. I have a set for my 2012 ZL1 I use with my daily driver tires. I will keep them now.
