In hindsight, this is very bad... a dash cam has only one job: to record one single minute of video, that of an accident whenever it happens. Everything else is just fluff. I've had Blackvue and Rexing cams in several vehicles, they both passed this basic test, never even flinched from the impact and captured emergency video.

In the end, I cheaped out ($100) dashcam and learned my lesson. I do still check the files of all dashcams at least once a month but haven’t had that same issue come up again since moving to the VIOFO cameras. Blackvue is nice and would be on my future purchase list, I haven’t looked much into them since swapping but I only bought cams with the STARVIS 2 image sensor at the time, I made this comparison which is a little outdated but basic features are the same

I also have a dual camera A129Pro Duo that I have been planning to put in the car but just haven't gotten around to it yet. I also have a still-new-in-the-box-and-never-opened A119v3 that I had -planned- to put in her car but never did as I ended up putting in the newer model instead. Viofo's cameras currently run anywhere from about $110 to about $250 or so depending on resolution and certain features, and I've had very good luck with all of them overall. The -one- failure I had was that the GPS mount for the original A119 had something in the power board go back so I had to move the power connector back to being plugged directly into the camera. The GPS functions still worked fine, it just wouldn't serve power through it any longer. |

I do wish I’d have waited on buying two A229 Pro’s as they released the A329 almost a month after I bought and I’d have liked that better for a little more. I just saw they released a few more versions of the A329 including: - A329S - Standard - A329T - Telephoto - A329SW - Weatherproof rear cam Ideally I’d choose the A329T 3 Channel (Front/Rear/Telephoto), so I’d have 4K/60, STARVIS 2 sensor in front/rear, and to try the telephoto. But without the Telephoto I’d stick to the standard A329/A329S or A229 Pro. My current A139 Pro gets the job done but I do see a slight improvement in the A229 Pro.
