I am on my fifth camaro in like 5 years. Every time I think I dont need it, and sell it. Then a few months later , I think life is too short to just sit on all that money for no reason, and I end up with another camaro. I have resisted the urge to sell, even with the inflated pricing. Cause if I sell this one, I seriously doubt I could afford to get another new one due to the current insanity, and the fact I might retire this next year.

I think reality will set in for all these do-gooders and they will realize the utopia isn't coming. I think EVs are great and could offer a lot of advantages in certain situations, but a Tesla Model S should carry the same stigma from the do-gooders as the Hummer did back in the 2000s. The amount of batteries is insane. Of course it gets a free pass. I think you will see batteries get insanely expensive and this will force automakers to scale down making driving batteries. This will of course limit the performance of them since that's how Teslas make so much power is by drawing less but having way more batteries to compensate. I see a repeat of the late 1970s, and also the reality set in the advantages of hybrids since you don't need as much batteries in hybrids. I think even right now they are trying to hide the fact that the supposed "zero emission" utopia can't happen tomorrow by blaming it on the supply chain crises. There definitely is a supply chain crises and batteries is among it already I think. |

I have no plans on selling, I have a Camaro, Corvette and just bought a new GMC Sierra as my daily. Its nice to know they are worth good money right now but I enjoy them way too much.

Yup. Sold my '19 end of October to Carmax. They were $2400 over (after taxes) what I paid for it 2.5yrs ago and 14,500 miles. That will never happen again most likely. If the market was normal, I'd have probably fetched $26K.
My driving is mostly quick short drives around town. The SS felt like a waste most of the time and nearly $5/gallon feels even more of a waste and 17mpg (hand calculated) is the best mpg I've ever gotten. Driving a super low mileage '20 Fusion hybrid now (it would have been less in a normal market but it was still $5K off orig MSRP with <5K mi). Had one as a loaner when my SS got hit a year ago and liked it. Pocketed the $12K difference and now averaging 40mpg without trying. Like having the extra room now as well. No SS rush or performance obviously but I can live with that.

If I do sell it then it would be to buy the last model year Camaro so I can enjoy the car even longer. It probably jump up to a 1SS maybe with Mag ride Dual Mode exhaust and that is probably it. I am on the thinking stages of it though and have no issues keeping my LT1 if I don't decide to do it since both 1SS and LT1 has same trans and Engine.

Yep. Kickin' around the idea of selling mine, because the offer is just that good.
But it's a chance to upgrade, not to bail out. May take a little patience, but this time I can check the boxes I didn't have the option to check last time. And Vroom can pay for it. |

OP again here. This all started when I went to edmunds to check my True Market Value. I didn't realize that I was getting a CarMax estimate lol. Came in at $35+. I paid $35+ for the car, so it got me thinking. I check KBB and private sale was $40. So I listed my car on Marketplace and just recently craigslist for $42. All message and phone offers at this point at 36-37.5. One guy from craigslist was texting up a storm, what about this, what about that. Then told me he was a reseller. I figured a waste of time, but played along. Turned out he was vroom and came in at $39.5. For comparison I just tried Carvana and they are 29.9, so forget that. I think vroom may be a winner. I'm not crazy about "the checks in the mail", but I haven't been able to find a bad story about selling a car to them yet. I've found bad stories about buying a car from them, but that's not what I'm doing. I'll give the dealer I bought the car from a swing at it, but I doubt they'll match. I think I may have to suffer with just having the C6 convertible, and will have to actually drive it more lol.

From what I can tell the new car pricing is actually get worse since last month. A local Toyota dealer was charging about $1500 over MSRP, now they only have 30 cars on the lot and they are all $5k over MSRP (market adjustment).

Sold my 2016 SS to the dealer at a reasonable price and ordered a 2022 Wild Cherry 3LT Convertible RS. Dealer agreed to no market demand markup and that incentives if any at the time of delivery will be passed on to me.
Build is scheduled for week of Dec 6, 2021 with delivery around the first of the year. Looking forward to a car that burns regular gas with rotatable tires. Will miss the LT1 power, but not the cost of ownership and summer only tires. Bought this one for the convertible feature after having a 2013 vert Vette. GPG

Vroom offered me $5300 more than I paid for mine. Mine is a third car, not a daily driver. I did not sell because the chances of finding another with the color and options I want are slim. I also figured if I was selling at a profit, I would be replacing it a large mark up as well.

I did give some thought to sell mine considering the crazy market, but quickly came to the conclusion that there is nothing out there that I would want for the money I would get for mine. Mine is paid for and getting a new car would require a car loan (although small) - no thanks, I'll keep what I have. Besides, I am happy with my 2SS vert and really enjoy it.
