Go to manual, put it in the gear you want & then switch to auto as soon as you punch it.

I spend most of the time in Manual using the HUD and shifting in the 6000-6200 rpm range. If I wait to get to 6200 before pulling the paddle I'll sometimes hit the rev limiter which I definitely want to avoid.

Best way to do it is
1. switch to manual
2. downshift to preferred gear
3. beep beep beep
4. floor it, and slap it back into auto

You can also have someone tune your transmission to where it will automatically upshift in manual mode as well.

How about simply blipping the throttle to the floor for a moment in auto mode, which will downshift for you in advance, switch to perf shift mode and also hold the gear till you're ready to floor it? You'd save having to slap the shifter back to auto, which has to be done at the right time, not too soon and not too close to redline.

Performance shift mode doesn't last forever. It will eventually time out and start upshifting again. It seems this time varies by what you're doing, gear you're in, speed, etc. I've had it last 10 seconds and other times only a few seconds. Also depending on what roll you're doing it might not put you in as low a gear as it can go. For instance it might put you in 4th, despite having some RPMs left in 3rd. I will admit I have been burned by not switching it to auto fast enough and hitting redline, but it's worth getting it down if you won't tune for it in my opinion.

Fair enough.

The absolute best alternative IMO is KingLT1's legendary trick (see here) to tweak TUTD speeds so the trans shifts automatically at the desired mph/rpm even in manual mode, but otherwise doesn't interfere. With this you can stay in manual mode all the time and either use the paddles or just keep it floored and the trans will shift for you. Downside of course is that this is a tune change, so you need HP Tuners and the willingness to kiss the warranty goodbye.

Sometimes, on a normal driving, you leave thé car driving without accelarating (1500tr/min) the automatic shift gear back to a previous level (by example from 9 to 8) ... when you accelerate again, there is a big hole... that is that I don’t like...
Because it’s made to drive in anger/fast. In city driving is not it’s strength.

Why did GM make this transmission so difficult for the customer to understand? Rhetorical question

Easier for mere mortals to drive 10/10s with the A10

Having a ball everyday! Plan to drive it year round except for a few snow/ice and <20F days.
