Well after realizing the triple beeping when I closed the door meant a fob was left inside, I managed to find the 2nd key fob I thought the dealer forgot to send me hiding under the seat. So now remote start works fine.

After putting about 50 miles on the car(up to 250 now). I have to say what an incredible machine. Despite the break in I couldn't help putting my foot down a couple times. Happy to join the ZL1 club.

Don't be afraid to give it occasional bursts of throttle. Droning down the freeway is the worst thing you can do for break in (ring seating), but you just don't want to go too far the other extreme either in my opinion.

Shorter trips, short bursts of throttle, change oil early and often - I've used this method for decades and it works

Also, get an Elite catch can installed ASAP before you start coking up your valves (DI engine)

  • Congrats Jason!
  • I'm suprised so few people know about Turo.com - it's like AirB&B for cars.
  • I used it before I got my ZL1 - I rented a 2SS for a day to confirm I could live with it. I did this after 3 or 4 Chevy dealer drives of 2SSs and ZL1s. Check out the query I did in San Jose, for 7/1/2020, for cars over $100. There's a few Camaro 2SSs, a nice selection of Challengers, some Porsches, an Alfa 4C, a Ferrari California... wow! Just ignore all the Teslas.

Turo San Jose 7-1-2020 over $100

All good information here, but this last comment, can cause you to lose your factory warranty , if you take it in for any reason, and they spot the catch can, my car has 2 years left on the powertrain, and I want a catch can, but I'm not installing anything till the warranty is off. Cool name ZX10R, I have a 2014 ZX14R !

See posts by Elite in the catch can thread. Better yet take off your supercharger cover, you will see the oil all over the lid - that's what ends up coking your valves.

If there is a major engine warranty issue just take it off, for routine maintenance I've never had an issue

And I ride a 2012 14R. The ZL1 is a beast, but 200 hp in a bike is a whole other experience.

Ducati 1299 right now - tons of midange (street friendly) and light, handles well. ZX-14 is too porky for me. Still love the original (2004-2005) ZX-10R
