ZR1, ZL1 1LE, Z06, in that order.

ZR1 is a no brainer. And the ZLE is above the Z06 because it is "pedestrians-stop-and-point" popular (and has a track suspension w/ a Z06 power plant). I can't go anywhere without pictures being taken. Was at the hospital visiting and looked out the window and a couple of teenagers were shooting the whole car in stills & vid. They didn't give the wife's $130K RR a second glance sitting two spots away.

If you want to find out which vehicles are the stunners go to a Cars & Coffee near you, or any significant meet. Find the ZL1 1LE and notice the attention it gets. Then go to the mind boggling row of Z06s and notice there's no one around. Now, find a ZR1 and notice it's got attention too.

I've never been a Vette fan, nor a GM fan. However, I love the ZLE and I have a lot of respect for the ZR1. Just can't own a Vette though...then again, I never thought I'd want to own a Camaro either until I learned about the ZLE.

Some of our kids say we should sell a bunch of cars and get the GT2 RS...I don't think I'd ever go that high on a single vehicle, I prefer to have several. The trick is owning a murse so you can easily transition between them!

However, the GT3 RS is something worth thinking about someday!

Great points all around ... I have one of the only 6th Generation ZL1 convertible in Los Angeles (maybe the only one, havent seen another one even at a Camaro car meet with over 800 cars) and it turns more heads when driving than cars 2 or three times the price point.

I wasn't saying the ZL1s 650HP makes it better than a 720S or GT2RS, I was only commenting on the Callaway HP total because it's lower than some of these other tuners provide but higher than these amazing cars for $20k over thge ZL1 MSRP, but still a very high HP number in the real world and plenty for people to go as fast on a track as many supercars--depending on their skill.

Of course I'd prefer to own a 720S or GT2RS, much nicer cars in many ways, but I can't afford to spend $300K on a car.

Do you circuit track your car frequently on hot days (not drag racing , circuit)?

If you've done that with a highly modified car like an 800+ HP ZL1 from certain tuners, and really flog it with fast lap times, you'll see the value of a properly tuned car with balance and an emphasis on cooling (based on decades of experience building pro race cars) that holds up on track, like Callaway. And you'll see the value of a solid warranty.

Over-modded over-boosted over-powered cars overheat and break on the track, period. I learned the hard way, but had years of fun doing it :-)

McLaren 720's have put down 680-710 RWHP, putting them well over 775-800+ HP at the crank, very underrated. Plus, they have boost by gear. In each consecutive gear the power goes up and up (Which is normal, but point is we have no idea how much the engine actually makes even stock). Showroom stock, 720's have been 9.7-10.0 regularly with even mediocre drivers/poor conditions clicking off 10.3 or less. Blazingly fast. You'd need 1000 HP and TRACTION to beat a 720S with a ZL1. No matter how "fast" of a car I've seen go up against a 720, the only car I've seen that truly smoked it and pulled on it hard up top was a 1200+ HP GTR.

The hate for the Z08 A8 is overblown. It's great for most purposes and it is the GM 60ft king. I've never gotten the car to overheat and I've had it on a track and in 100 degree bumper to bumper cruises. No issues whatsoever.

I don't think the ZL1 is any more or less comfortable than the Z06. Both get very plush for what they are in tour mode and I don't feel claustrophobic in the Z06 like some complain about. If you drive both back to back, the visibility difference is insane. The Z06 feels like you can see 99% of the road in all directions. The ZL1 feels like you're looking down a tunnel. The Z06 feels like it's wrapped around you like a glove and you're "part" of it. Also, I've noticed that neither car is any more or less "twitchy" in the corners like some magazines have claimed - again overblown. Somebody on here posted: The Z06 feels like a fighter jet. The ZL1 feels like a really fast tank. Which I agree with.

I truly think the best way to break it down is by transmission. Automatic = ZL1. Manual = Z06. The A10 is superior to the A8 (though the A8 Z06 digs WAY harder). And the Manual Z06 with no bog or super intrusive torque management is a dream.
I have a ZL1 1LE. I realize the 720S does amazing things for it's rated power, and can beat hypercars form 2 years ago. And the GT2RS is similar. But I'm also confident a good driver Callaway ZL1 1LE could give a good driver in a a 720S or GT2RS a run for their money on a circuit.

Your comments are focused on drag racing, and are all true--the 720S and GT2RS are both amazing in a drag race. I'm not a drag racer and will never drag race my 1LE, the GT2RS, 720S and ZL1 1LE were not built for drag racing. My comments are entirely about circuit driving.

WOW! Thanks for all the comments everyone and the well wishes! I have done a few calculations and talked with the missus, and with the point of view from Car-And-Driver that the C7 will be produced for one more year, I believe I am going to attempt to order a ZR1 this coming Sept/October. Subject to change based upon availability for allocations and production of course. I know it is not ZL1 content at this post, but would you all go A8 or M7? I am buying this car and plan on keeping it for the long haul as it will be a LONG while before getting anything new. With that the case, I am again, leaning heavily towards the M7. Thoughts? Lastly, I want nothing to do with ZTK
