Camaro has a large frontal area with large grille openings. It may just be the SS main radiator (or some up-sized radiator), the oil cooler (tied-in with the radiator), and the trans/diff cooler. |

hey just wondering if anyone figured out whether the 2.0T 1LE includes the auxilliary radiators, in addition to the oil/trans coolers.

I recently acquired a 2021 3LT RS with the Y4Q heavy duty cooling and brake package, and was wondering if the package included the auxiliary radiators. From what I could see through the front grille, my 3LT didn't appear to have the right and left radiators (or, more importantly, any way to get air to them!) Later I found out the easier way to check was to look in the front fender wells - yep, no outlets for auxiliary radiators there! But, as my daily driver, it didn't really need those extra 26 lbs anyway? So that left me wondering: what exactly is the "extra capacity" of my Y4Q package cooling system? This thread helped by pointing out the difference between the V03 option for "cooling system, extra capacity" and the V18 option for "auxiliary engine cooler." According to the fleet guide, for the 3.6 the V18 auxiliary coolers only come with the 1LE. So that confirmed my RS was not supposed to have the auxiliary radiators, only the mysterious V03 extra capacity cooling system. Since the engine oil cooler comes with the Y4Q package, the cooling system necessarily has "extra capacity" by virtue of the additional coolant flowing through the oil cooler. Per the owner's manual, the 3.6 normally has a 10.1 qt cooling system, but with the engine oil cooler the 3.6 requires 10.7 qts of coolant. Yeah, technically .6 of a quart is "extra" capacity, but if that's all there is to the V03 "extra capacity" cooling system, I am underwhelmed (and I guess the same theory applies to the standard V03 "extra capacity" cooling system on the 1SS, 2SS, and ZL1?) Sure, I also got Brembo front brakes and an engine oil cooler with the Y4Q package, but I don't think I was anticipating a mere 5% increase in coolant capacity from a "Heavy Duty Cooling and Brake Package." |

I suspect it will handle as good as the SS or V6 1LE's on the track in the corners or maybe even a hair better. On the straight away though the SS's have the higher HP to pull away. HP is king on the straight aways.
I had a friend who used to track Miatas back in the day. He had a very built Miata NA. He would compete against RX8's and some V8 cars as well. He would roast them in the corners, then on the long straight aways get blown away. I would expect similar with the Camaros- except they would handle nearly the same in the corners, then the V8's taking the lead on the straight aways.
