Everyone with concerns on the shudder should go check out the last post on this page and then read forward:

https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...527133&page=11

Basically, GM is now saying that the TC flush helps but doesn't correct the issue and a new TC will not correct the issue. They are saying that a (hopefully) new fix is coming Q1 2019.

Lets all hope its a new transmission tune that will eliminate the shudder.

I have a 2016 and had the shudder problem. It is absolutely the torque converter. When they take it out to drive they may not be able to feel it and because the shift isn't jolting them in to the next county, they think nothing is wrong. Insist that they change out the torque converter. I lucked out and found a mechanic at the dealership who had the same problem with his truck, he spotted it right away.

They immediately replaced the torque converter, I picked it up and on the way home the check engine light came on (took it back, the next day, and they said they left something unplugged). The car doesn't drive as smooth as it did the when I first purchased it (my wife doesn't even like riding in it anymore), after the TC replacement, still feel a slight shudder. Well, today I think my transmission started slipping. When I downshift (with paddle shifters) it revs to about 4/5K and doesn't go anywhere, just revs like crazy until I let off. This is my 6th camaro and its a POS! Wish I would have kept my 2010 Camaro ... it would take a severe beating and be ready for another in the morning ... I cant even drive this one (1800 miles on it now). Also, when I'm in (P) Park and I rev it to 4k it lunges or jumps a bit, its really weird and disheartening. The car also makes some weird noise when starting it at first, others have complained that it sounds like a fan belt but its not. I'm sure I'm forgetting other things as well. I have a service appointment in the morning.
I fell the same thing after steeping up from my great dependable 5th gen Camaro Zl1, I could not find a single issue with my car but loved the looks of the new Stingray, it has been hell to own my Stingray Z51 it spends to much time on the dealer shop, twice towed in one year, doesn't not compare to the quality build of my priors cars: '14 Camaro ZL1 and '11 Mustang GT. This C7 Corvette is a nice looking piece of garbage. GM quality department looks absent pointing to the South. Big mistake of replacing my '14 ZL1

It's got to be the luck of the draw and/or 1st year of a model make. 2014 was the first year of the C7. They may be better right now, the bugs out. The 2014 Camaro was a later year Gen 5 where all the bugs were out. Although my Camaro was a 2017 and you'd think all the bugs would be out. When shopping to replace my 2017 Camaro I test drove so many cars- new and used- one of which was a 2017 C7 Corvette with manual transmission. I did not like it. I end up with a 2018 Mustang GT base as it drove the best out of all the cars I test drove, including 3 new Camaros so I bought it. And it was very, very cheap.

I know what you mean about 1st. year model, but I did so to stay away from the troublesome GM A8 transmission, only the '14 Stingray came out with the well tested A6 automatic transmission.

I don't believe so. TCs have been replaced only to have the issue show up again, and the revised TSBs say specifically NOT to replace the TC.

There is evidence to support that a revised tune could correct this issue, but the fact is that if your car has shuddered a lot then certainly, a new TC may be needed if it has been damaged.

1st year is not the case here and the A8 was not new to the Camaro first. This has been affecting the A8 transmission since its inception across all makes/models its been used in for years up through the current models.

Live and learn. I wanted an auto for my next V8 muscle car. Was going to get an A10 Mustang GT but all over the forums are new owners with engine tick/piston slap. Too many.

For the A8 Camaro, the shudder has been going for awhile now. I'm puzzled why anyone would roll the dice with an A8, unless they didn't do their homework. I'm waiting for the A10 to come out but that could have issues as well.

It seems that just about all American made muscle cars have some issues that rear their ugly heads and plague some owners. I have had 5 mustangs in the past so before I bought my Camaro a week ago, I did cross shop even though I liked the look of the Camaro better. The last mustang I looked at was a new 18 GT and it had engine rattle sitting right on the lot! So, I said then with all the talk on the mustang forums about piston slap and ticking and now hearing it in person on a brand new car, no way was I touching an 18 Mustang Gt. The car I traded in on my Camaro was a Charger Scat Pack. It had rear diff noise with 500 miles on it. They replaced the diff but the sound remained. I know a couple of years ago, there were a lot of 09-13 Challenger RT automatic owners that were having timing chains to break and totally destroy the motor. With our Camaros it looks like this shudder issue is the one that keeps rearing its head. I don't know what it is with car companies these days, but the quality control needs to be better. And, issues need to be fixed for customers sooner. But, it seems that they all have some problems. Anyway, I hate it for you guys having the problem. I love my new Camaro and so far with just 500 miles, I am good to go. Crossing my fingers mine will avoid the issue.

Yup, for sure. I wanted a new Camaro- SS or V6 M/T- and I test drove 3 of them. The shifting was notchy and/or they badly needed alignments. I test drove a new Colorado at one of the same dealers. The tires shook so bad (bad balancing) and the alignment was even worse than the Camaros. This was at two different dealers. Then I test drove a used C7. It did not seem solid, was rattly and the rear differential made some noise. The sales guy said that "oh yeah we had the rear differential serviced under warranty and it should be as good as new". For 38K, no thanks. I test drove a 2017 Mustang GT with like 12K miles, did not like the shifting- felt notchy. Then I test drove my 18 GT- it drove the best of all of them- shifting- check, clutch release- check, tracking- check, alignment- check, everything works- check, rev matching check. Piston slap or valve train noise- yes has it when it's cold, then goes away. So just one fault. I guess none of the cars are perfect. Have to find one that is the best for you with preferably no issues during the test drive and hopefully none after. The good news is that I paid "only" 30K for the GT. My Camaro was 37K- way more top of the line

Regarding my Camaro I did not do my home work and read about the A8 issues- I wish I would have as I was so on the fence to buy my very first automatic transmission in a car.

A10 is out in the 19 SS, and has been successful in the ZL1s. It appears to be very reliable and lacking the shudder problem. Almost no complaints about it. The A8 in the Corvette is what moved me to the Camaro site, once they said the A10 wouldn't fit.
