I'll go see them Tuesday after the holidays. The GM called me after I contacted them the first time but that was before I got an estimate. They will hook me up. If not, they will pay much more in the long run. A judge won't take too kindly to the deception nor will the public and they know it. What does a dealer have in a 48k 2SS, maybe 42-43k? Actual cash value for mine is 40k. They take a 2-3 grand hit and keep a customer happy. End of story. I'm sure they won't want to do anything but get me out of their hair a happy camper.

This happens so often it's maddening.

Those "FREE" oil changes are the most costly ones ever.

Use a well-rated pit equipped lube center.

OP: I would EXPLODE!

Think about a diminished value angle. All that repair instantly drops the resale value.

I’m rooting for you but I have found the dealers to be incredibly stubborn about making things right and GM just refers you back to the dealer.

This is a good point and since GA requires insurance companies to pay out diminished values, IF you get stuck with the car get a third party company to assses the true loss of value (insurance companies often underestimate this) and present that. You may get out of this ahead if you can get the car fixed in a way that satisfies you.
If you need the name of a company that does independent diminished value assessments IM me.

Oh i am mad about it but showing my arse isn't going to help the situation. I'm just going to play it calm. Nothing they can do really. I am in the right and they are in the wrong. The "catbird seat" if you will. They don't have a car that matches mine though. What is GM's policy on transfering cars from dealer to dealer?

Been said twice before,
GET A LAWYER.
******
You'll not have to angst over it next 6 months, so a lot less gray hairs.
All the lawyer might have to do, is write a letter to dealership, telling they are open to litigation; expensive in itself. Probably the dealership will cut their losses, and capitulate.
Faster you do it, the quicker the resolve.
*******
I'm certain I'll never get any freebie changes, I found a real nice local INTELLIGENT repair/mechanic facility 7 miles from here that loves to oggle the underneath of my car- and he cuts me a good price for putting it on the lift.
I can stand right alongside him underneath the car as a "bonus".
(worth the $50 he charges to swap oil)

You are correct about the lawyer, that's good advice in this circumstance, I'm sure. It will be my next step if they don't resolve the issue immediately to my satisfaction. They are in a rather indefensible position. We'll see.

I've been in similar situations in the past with BMW NA and GM stealer, both situations required a lawyer. GM stealer cut their losses quickly. BMW went nuts and paid almost 100k more (than my initial ask) for their trouble, apart from what they paid their own legal team.

I have been satisfied with them in all my other dealings. That's the only reason I haven't mentioned them by name thus far. Perhaps they will do the right thing without the headache of litigation.

Following along with your situation. Hope the dealer steps up, but be ready with a attorney as others have already mentioned.

Thanks. I'll be sure to post tomorrow when I get some answers. I did find a 2SS redline edition for $44k and a 2SS 1LE for 46.5k in Columbia, S.C. I may just get them to pay the estimate and trade. If I get 39k in trade for mine, I can probably swing it. We'll see what happens.

I would want a new car too, or a buyback. How many miles did you have prior to the service? With BMW, I asked them to buy it back since they screwed it up royally.

With GM, I was more willing to play ball since they quickly backpedaled on their initial BS stance. They made me whole and then some on diminished value, but it only happened after my lawyer fired off a stern letter.

I should know something tomorrow. I'll be sure to post an update. It's been bothering me all weekend though, that's for sure. So I'm ready to see what they are going to do about it. Heck, they might tell me to kick rocks...lol.

+1 Demanding a new car won’t happen and will only lead to a worsened rapport with the dealership. Let them try to fix it....maybe it comes out better than new.

There is no undoing the damage at this point. So your best option is getting more bees with honey.
