2018 1ss A8, 1500 miles so far and no issues with the transmission or torque converter yet. I do have the rear differential groan and if it gets worse I'll get the fluid flushed. I'm just thankful my transmission is solid so far.

im really thinking you are hearing a lot about a small percentage of problem cars.people are more likely to complain about a problem than to write about their car being reliable.they just take it for granted.

Great replies so far, I'm optimistic hearing all you 2018's without a hint of shudder.

I don't know if it means anything but the official TSB for the A8 ends at year 2017 for GM vehicles so maybe they figured something out.

After reading and driving and reading some more, I've decided on a new 2SS, MRC & NPP, and then started down the rabbit hole of A8 problems and the shudder.

Following multiple threads, I see so many of you guys with 2016/2017 year A8's with problems. My plan is to keep this car as a DD for a long time (I have a 90-min highway commute to work through twisty roads) so avoiding that issue altogether is of course ideal. But what I can't find, is info on whether people are still having the problems with their 2018's.

So long story short, are the 2018's finally fixed since I can't seem to find posts complaining of the A8 TC/shudder issues and safe to go purchase, or do I need to wait for the refresh?
No problem here so far. At 4k Miles. Only thing I curious about is that dead throttle response when I put it on track mode. Floor it and will take off in a few sec. I don't know if this a issue on a A8.

Nope that's Torque Management. Impacts the M6 guys too.

throttle lag has been a thing ever since cars started moving to drive by wire in the 90's.

I can't speak for the SS but I experienced shudder with my 2018 A8 V6 last weekend.
I had a 2017 A8 V6 that also had shudder and I traded it in for the 2018.

I'll be calling the dealer to see what's next. Is the 3 time transmission fluid flush still
the recommended treatment?

I'm looking at a 2018 leftover with a build date of July 25, 2017. Do you think this date is safe with regard to shudder/friction modifier etc. Thanks

My 2018 was built Feb 2018 and I have felt shudder. Additionally,
whenever you try to accelerate gradually once the car is cruising,
it hesitates and does not want to accelerate gradually. It will struggle
and refuse to cooperate until you give it a lot of gas to force it to downshift.
It's a frustrating car to drive if you're are not flogging it 100% of the time.
The A8 sucks so do not buy one. Buy a manual trans only if you want the
Camaro. Better yet, don't buy a GM car.

So sorry to hear this T. :(

Anyone else with a 2018 (A8) having this problem? It seems a lot rarer on the 2018s or 2017s built after March 2017..
