You sure that's a Camaro and not a Silverado with a trailer? Sorry, couldn't resist

I had a pretty similar issue. Check out TSB 18-NA-355. The dealership fixed mine in one visit, no charge.

OP and everyone else with a similar issue in this thread have a manual trans.

Camaro Vibration During Acceleration
I see this thread is a few years old but wanted to post and get this information out there since I've recently experienced a vibration problem with my 2018 Camaro 2SS. Hopefully this gets to others buying the older Camaros and experiencing this problem.
My Camaro is a 2018 2SS, 19k miles, automatic. While driving my 2SS I experienced vibration while giving the car light acceleration (barely touching the gas) when going over 30 mph. The vibration was also experienced during short seconds of coasting - for example, if on the highway going 70, and I slightly took my foot off the gas while going downhill, the car would vibrate. It would immediately stop the second I lightly increased the throttle. I also began to notice this vibration while driving in my neighborhood, primarily as the car shifted between 2nd and 3rd gear. The vibration feels as if you are driving over rumble strips in the road. It could primarily be felt in the steering column and was not noticeable to passengers except on one occasion. The vibration is also heat depended - meaning I would not experience it until driving the car about 15 minutes, in the summer, at ambient temperatures above 70 deg F. Hence, when I test drove the car for a few blocks around the dealer, I did not experience the vibration. Sadly until I was 30 minutes into my 3hr trip home, after purchasing. I immediately got home and searched for an explanation and why I was experiencing the vibration. I found other threads shedding some light on the problem - and I can confirm they were correct. The vibration in my car was caused by bad transmission fluid. Other threads list this as a somewhat known problem for the Camaro - though it is more often experienced in Chevy trucks. My camaro was at 19k miles, but owners in other threads reported this problem at much lower mileage. What happens is the transmission fluid essentially wears out - it loses it performances properties and they even get worse the hotter the transmission fluid becomes. This causes slippage within your torque converter, specifically when changing gears or under light acceleration - where the difference in turbine and pump impellers of the torque converter are just slight enough to produce the slippage and vibration. When flooring the car, or with high acceleration, the slippage is believed to be overpowered by the magnitude of torque being transmitted. The good news is that most Chevy dealers are aware of this problem - there is a technical/service bulletin published that Chevy dealers have, and if you Google it more, I believe some form of lawsuit was made against Chevy to try and force them to make a recall. However, the problem is not common enough, and it is fixable. I took my car to my local Chevy dealer and gave them the vibration symptoms. The transmission technician took the car for a test drive and easily diagnosed this problem. The first step for a solution is flushing the transmission three times, over the course of an hour. Then replacing the transmission fluid - I believe the new transmission fluid is an upgrade from the initial fluid used, with better performance properties. However, don't hold me to that. After the fluid renewal, you need to drive the car for 200 miles to consider the fluid "broken" in. For many, it seems this transmission fluid flush and renewal solves the problem. This did solve the vibration issue I was experiencing, for the time being. And the best news - it was all covered under warranty (powertrain) for me. The Bulletin listed on the service report was 18-na-355. I have been greatly relieved that my Camaro no longer vibrates. It is gut wrenching to buy a relatively expensive muscle car (this is my dream car too) and immediately run into a problem with something power or transmission related. I will note, in some other threads I found, the transmission flush/change did not cure the vibration, and the next step from there is a torque converter replacement. From there, it would be further transmission investigation and potentially replacement - also, at that point it's obvious your problem no longer resides in the torque converter. What does worry me is since I purchased this car used, I don't know how long the vibration had been happening - it was never reported, the dealer didn't know of it, and nothing in the CarFax or from the previous owner. But I find it unlikely that it started doing it once I drove it off the dealership. As anyone knows with machinery and moving mechanics, usually vibration is bad and it only produces more wear and damage. Thus, what concerns me is that the lifetime of my torque converter has been accelerated (and shortened) due to the existence of the vibration. As much as I love driving the car - it is something I will always be aware of - the vibration - every day I drive it. I'm now hypersensitive to any vibration I feel. But like I described above, the feeling of driving over rumble strips is pretty alarming and easily noticeable. Anyway, I will leave you here. Congrats on reading this far and I hope this helps illuminate a solution to what you are experiencing. I will post again if I ever do experience the vibrations again. |

I had this same problem. In order to fix mine, I bought a new transmission. I'm now on my second transmission and this one is acting up too. I am so fed up with this Camaro. These 6 gens are complete trash. They need to do a recall on the transmissions asap.

the automatic tcc shudder issue is different from the issue this OP had in his manual transmission. Probably good not to dilute the thread since there is already a tcc shudder thread.
and fwiw, the tcc shudder issue is due to bad fluid and if you leave the issue go to the point where the shudder becomes noticeable to passengers, then you can cause permanent converter damage and a fluid change wont fix it. You have to have fluid that is newer than 1st quarter 2019...that's when the blue label fluid came out. Anything older ...is bad. I'm sure the class action lawsuits against them will win, this is pretty obviously a manufacturing flaw that should be mass-fixed across the entire fleet regardless of if issues are noticed now or not since the bad fluid will do what the bad fluid does and eventually cause problems. It's not like there's some variance where the fluid is good in some and not others. It's bad for everyone. If you get new fluid put in before the shudder or while it's barely able to be felt in the gas pedal...you should be fine. But again, different problem from this thread's. |

Any update? I have an a8. I’ve gotten the flush about 20k miles ago. Last night I was doing some fast pulls and I started feeling vibration. I’ve had the shudder, this is something else. Seems like drive shaft or something idk. It does it only above 80 and up

I'd exclude tires, wheels and alignment before suspecting the driveshaft. Wheel weights may have fallen off, for example.

In my case I have the same issue with 2SS A8 (shudder with part-throttle above 50mph). Like some parts (gearbox/shaft... or sth else) starting to catch resonance.
I have had new tires put on the rims (and checked on the wheel balancing machine) and wheel alignment done so those are ruled out. My next step is the transmission fluid change (as I may still have the original one from 2016/7 so 8-NA-355 may be the solution - I will update if so). Interesting that similar symptoms are for the manual shift cars - is there a possibility that issue may be with the manual gearbox?

Transmission fluid was changed today and it seems that the shudder problem was fixed, also I can see that there is no more jolting in lower gears. Old oil was almost black and there was quite a lot of metal fillings/dust on the magnets - this I believe was the 1st trans oil change (car has been driven for 3y and made 35k miles).
Need to drive around some more to be 100% sure.

After 4w the light shudder/vibration has returned - trans oil/fluid change is not the root-cause it seems.
I will be diagnosing the Torque Converter next - according to my mechanic replacement is not always 1st choice here - sometimes proper tune-up of the mechanism is all that is needed. Next week I will have a session of driving around with computer/diag tool hooked-up to diagnose/fix it - will update afterwards.
