Oh that's way too much extra weight.

Going 1SS for sure now.

Actually I'm still on the fence, mostly because I only actually want about 3 of the items the 2SS adds.. and one of those (htd/vent seats) could be made to work on the 1ss with enough work.

Wow, you must have a lot of rich friends. I don't know a single person who owns a GT3. I have seen them at track days though.

But I do get your point. My guess is the vast majority of Corvette owners do not track them. Not sure about 1LE owners.

That is exactly what I have in my 2SS. Works for me. The sunroof helps open up the camaro's "claustrophobic" interior feeling imo.
I agree it shouldn't be a 1LE option however, due to the decreased helmet space and being more performance focused.

I wonder how much weight the sunroof actually adds?

Back when I had a cobalt turbo there were so few out there without sunroofs and I know they were about 90lbs lighter.

That would be a very interesting poll: how many 1LE owners actually track their car lol

VERY small sample group.. but every 1LE owner I personally know tracks their car.

However, based on youtube videos I've seen.. it's certainly nowhere near 100%

I don't get why it should be an option on a 2SS, but not on a 2SS 1LE. An option means that no one is forced to take it. Why not offer it? It potentially brings in buyers who want a sunroof.

I see the same debates about headroom on the 2 series forums. I have a sunroof in mine, have taken it to 3 track days, and no headroom issues. I understand that other people do. Let the buyer decide.

A lot of people assume that if they have a headroom issue with a helmet, then everyone does.

The weights don't add up to me.. A 1SS weighs 35xx lbs and with the 1LE pack brings it up to 3700ish. The 2SS weighs around 3700ish so adding the 1LE pack should be around 3850 lbs as the bigger breaks, wheels, and e-diff do add substantial weight. There is a lot of extra weight to a 2ss. The Bose system alone weighs double the 1SS stereo due to extra more powerful speakers and amp. I would even suspect that the 2SS body wiring harness weighs a few lbs more than a 1SS.

A 2SS isn't even 3700 fully loaded. I've got one here with a sunroof, magnetic ride, automatic, nav and NPP and it's 3662 ship weight.

I also have a 1SS with NPP, M6 and base suspension that is 3604 ship weight. Also have a 1SS Redline with NPP and automatic that was 3614 ship weight.

Now we all know that they don't ship these witch much gas in them so that is something to consider.

No plans to do track days in my 1LE. I agree, it would be an interesting poll.

I you will track it, get the 1SS. Weight makes huge difference, and yes I track it, as an entry level amateur. Three events and cannot get enough, way better than drag racing for me...

I've been tracking cars since ~2000 and W2W racing since 2006 or so. 9lbs in a HPDE car is completely meaningless. Granted, I'm not a superstar driver or anything like that, just average or so, but still.. the weight of the car changes by far more than 9lbs just in a single session due to fuel and I doubt anyone here is really noticing that...
