Lots of information here but not clear information for California people running 91 octane. I am looking for stock drivability at about a hundred extra ponies. I want to avoid headers and do not want to touch the primary cats. I also want stock drivability so that I do not need to have the car flatbed tow truck back to the tuner. this also rules out going into the engine for things such as camshaft Etc. I need to be able to pass California emissions. The most I would be willing to do for breathing would be an intake and An X Pipe & Axle back exhaust which retains the primary cats. Any ideas?
Thank you for your thoughts and not trying to hijack the thread--looks like the op had similar ideas. |

I suspect in States like California the answer will simply be to throw an air intake on, enjoy the car and then switch to the next more powerful thing that GM brings out. Otherwise, the risk and costs associated with getting those extra 100 ponies may just be too steep a hill to climb.

Shelby, Ford- AMG R/D w/ lysolm Superchargers. They are expensive & GM is not a fan due to cost. Twin-Screw operating temperatures are lower than a roots type system & I have seen side by side demonstrations @ SEMA. Twin screw is compressed within the blower & Eaton is compressed within the inlet manifold. That is where the efficiency is lost. That system will be more than the Whipple when it is released, makes no sense.

A lot of people seem to be weary of running meth but on these cars it really works amazing. It helps the fueling issues and the intake temp issues so two birds with one stone. That being said 800rwhp seems to be the upper limit for that 1.7 which is still pretty impressive. The Whipple and 2650 can pass 1000rwhp if you build them right. It just depends what your end goal is.
