It was a semi-daily and it was fine. When I put the GT350 on Sport, the GT350 was softer. So you can get used to it is my point if you add the newer suspension from the ZL1 1LE. The rest is just aero bits for the most part.

Drive it, enjoy it and modify slowly and research beforehand.

Congrats
Thank you to everyone on this forum, really a great community...

Having been 5-10 years old in the golden age of muscle cars in late 60's-early 70's I am so grateful we can get cars like the zl1, gt350 and hellcat...

ZL1 is a beast, wow is all I can say...

my take

i test drove the reg zl1. its a beast. but imo the zl1 1le is worth the extra 10k. youre gonna invest in that anyway. plus u get + on the looks pf the car. and you cant deny the gear banging fun in a manual trans. Since i got my zl1 1le ive realized it day to day. and honestly ride isnt THAT bad. unless drive like maniac in the streets all the time. car is too much for the streets. it MUST be used at a track.

Already have a GT350 and want a special car and maybe an extreme daily driver.
The standard ZL1 can do better than a GT350 on any track. If tracking is not in the plans stick with the standard ZL1. You will not be sorry.

I think you're looking at this purchase for the wrong reasons...but to each their own.

The purpose of the ZL1 1LE was not to promote exclusivity, or "special-ness"; it was to maximize performance on the track, yet allow enough manners and amenities that you could drive it on the weekends without getting season passes to the chiropractor, as well.

I will try to first, dissuade you for the following reasons:

The ZL1 in itself, is a very special Camaro. It's faster than your GT350 by quite a bit (unless your car is an 'R', at which point, we don't know, yet), and quicker than the last generation Z/28. That's amazing. It's also just as practical as any other Camaro, loaded to the gills with equipment...and the styling (painted grilles, etc) give it a much more luxurious look and feel than the ZL1 1LE (in my opinion).

DSSV in the Z/28 is very stiff. Easily three-to-four times as stiff as a Gen 5 SS 1LE, or ZL1 in sport mode. The ZL1 1LE will be about that stiff, possibly more. When I say stiff, I mean, unless the road is freshly paved, or extremely well-taken care of...you feel every imperfection, every dip, crest, bump, etc...it gets to the point at times that a passenger cannot type a message or phone number into their cell phone.

And remember, it's not just the stiff suspension that you should consider about this new car. EVERYTHING is hard-mounted to the chassis. There's no rubber isolation...so every driveline vibration, every click, clank, snap, rub, and other normal noise that nobody hears, will transmit to the cockpit. Don't get me wrong...it's not going to be a rattle trap, but you will hear things that you're not used to hearing.

The backseat no longer folds down, so maximum cargo space is now compromised, and that wing is going to get in the way of daily-driver type things, not to mention there's no chance of blending in.

The sixth gear change means the car will be capable of reaching its top speed, whatever that ends up being...but it also means that the engine will be spinning 400-600 rpm faster than the regular M6, or A10 versions at highway speeds...this will likely result in a reduction in fuel economy at any speed above 45mph.

And besides...you said you don't think you'll be shooting for 185+ mph...so does it really matter? Or is it, perhaps, an ego thing?

Finally...99% of the appearance stuff the 1LE package changes about a ZL1 you can put install later, once the parts become available.

Just some thoughts to chew on...It doesn't sound like you will need any of the track-focused equipment the ZL1 1LE comes with, and I think you could be very very happy in a regular ZL1. What I sort of predict happening is that you end up buying a ZL1 1LE (if your dealer has an allocation for it...no word on details just yet)...and it will end up sitting in the garage often, because your other "special" cars ride so much smoother.
The back seat does fold down.

Playing devil's advocate... Of course it should , it have a lot more HP & TQ. If the power and tq were equal, that is where the real comparison is at.

Driving dynamics, suspension tuning, body chassis control, etc.

I am not saying one is better than the other, I am simply stating, of course it should be faster around a track since it has more power, but how it gets there and "feels" is what I would care about most.

On shorter to medium tracks an ss 1le and a zl1 are within 1 second of each other so lower power is no excuse for the GT350.
