My 'Spidy-Sense' is a bit tingly on this what with the past limp-mode issues and 'weird' tire wear issue.

CAI? There is a story that a guy had his power train warrenty yanked due to a catch can. If you put small bolt ons on the car and can easily removed them like a CAI or catch can and want to avoid any hassles remove them before going into the dealer. As far as the sky is falling mentality goes how many people are on this forum? How many blown motors have their been? How many SS models are out with owners not on this forum? It sucks without a doubt to read this but it can happen. Take good care of the car mechanically maintaining it and thats all you can do. I BEAT my 99 LS1 like a rented mule, heads ,cam full bolt ons and the car was always good to me im sure there were more than a few blown motors back when that platform first came out too. To the OP I hope everything works out for you

Auto or manual? I wonder if it's related to AFM hardware (both have it, but only auto uses it).

Chevy is giving you permission to play hard with warranty under one condition.

The man behind it? Non other than Al Oppenheiser, the Camaro ZL1's chief engineer, a diehard automotive wizard who gives credence to the "gearhead" appellation. "If you're not modifying your car and you take your production car to a track day and you have an issue with one of your parts, it's covered under warranty," he recently told Motor Authority. "We know when somebody changes their ECM calibration and we know if they changed to a cold-air intake, we can tell all that. But driving it as you break it in from the dealership, if you have a half-shaft or whatever, it's covered

But just leave the car at least until the warranty is up. Makes no sense to me

They will have a hard time proving that more air tanked your engine. Look up the moss clause.

Did the car push oil through the exhaust stroke? Did you notice any oil out the back side in the exhaust pipe?

Totally agree! No need to go after someone for making their own choice.

Yeah, I agree with you man, not sure why they are giving him a hard time... and trying to scare him over something so little... don't mod, they may void your warranty for putting on a CAI that doesn't effect or strain any component in the engine at all. I would bet the farm they don't refuse his warranty because of that, I've never seen a dealership bat an eye at them, heck GM offers one now. I'm highly against mods though, they void warranties..

OP, what dealer is your car at?
