Incase anybody wants OE caps in black, I found a set...I just ordered these:

They are pretty much an exact match for the color/finish of the center caps.

I compared it against the stock (green) one. Sure enough, it's about 1/4" longer. But, it screws down more, also. Notice in the above pic how there are still threads on the stem? On mine, there are no threads. And, it takes more turns to get it snug. So, I think it's longer, but just has more threads. It certainly doesn't look like it sticks up any more than stock.

You can see in the pic that it almost touches the hex part of the stem, completely covering the stem.

That is true. Won't throw anything off, however, I wouldn't recommend a metal, of any kind, cap with an aluminum valve stem. The caps can get fused to the stem and break the stem When trying to remove. I've seen it way too much before manufactors got smart and started using plastic caps.

However this just means you are forgetting normal maintenance. A dab of dielectric grease on the thread eliminates this problem forever.

I agree. Since I deal with the general, uneducated public in this regard ibare it a lot.
