RIP to them.

That's the risk you take when you put your foot into it. I'm guilty of driving my ZL1 fast. I like the speed and the pull, but I think about all the things that could go wrong too. It's a risk, no matter how you spin it. We have to live with the chance it can happen to any of us. All you can do is practice restraint.

Sad to see such a beautiful young lady and father go down like that, but I bet they were having fun... they just didn't expect what was going to happen.

Stupid, yes.....but I have a tremendous amount of sympathy for all involved because I find it hard to believe that all you hard core "what an idiot" guys have never stepped out a little.....and by the grace of God, got away with it. OP, thanks for reminding us. We have had a few stories as of late where members have lost control (though I am not comparing these losses of control to the subject of the tread), and it is a great reminder to all of us that things can go south pretty quick. I would suggest that those that are so cold take a good look in the mirror, think back to your youth and past life, and say a little prayer of thanks. Be safe everyone.

Did they say who was drivin?? Lot's of presumption it was the Dad....I'm thinkin pops lets his girl drive and this is the result....either way, yes, VERY tragic.....for the car..sorry stupid is as stupid does...no excuse...been there done that and I didn't blame anyone nor expect sympathy.....rolled a car 5 times with my buddy(ages ago)...both luckily still alive...

Never street race and I only get into it when there is little to no traffic and I know the only person to pay if things go sideways is ME!!!

Like people who use cell phones and drive(sorry goin on a tangent here)you hit me because of a cell ph the last thing you will need to be worried about is the popo or your insurance company,,,I'm gonna beat the shit outta ya....peace out....and for cryin out loud...be safe out there!

This isnt about doing stupid stuff. This is about not knowing your abilities, doing stupid stuff AND most importantly, taking said risks with a young daughter in the car.

If you are gonna be stupid, you dont do it with your daughter in the car.

Keyword here "a little" .

This wasn't "a little" this was A LOT. A stupid amount of speed, well over 100mph putting other lives at risk is something I haven't, nor a lot of people still here breathing haven't done.

No sympathy.

I stand by what I said, though I agree with everything you said, if that makes sense. Mistakes and bad judgement happen everyday. We get away with more than we think without even realizing it.

Let's not get into arguments over what constitutes a stupid behavior or not. Lives were lost and families are grieving. It was a risk they took and paid dearly. We are all subject to the same fate... no one is less likely to not get killed. When your number is pulled, your gonna have to deal with it.

Nailed it. I feel for the daughter (assuming she was the passenger), but the dad made his choice.

No sympathy.
Are you sure you haven't, or just assume you haven't? What I mean by that is have you done things that you felt were safe that caused others distress, but you did not realize it. I am not going to beat this horse, and I am not trying to put you down. You have never driven your Camaro 100 MPH...got it. Thanks for being safe out there, and many of us could learn a lot from a guy like you...and I mean that with all sincerity.

so sad...my baby is 27 and cant imagine loosing her. this is the reason i drive like a granpa....#1 because in a few weeks i will become one. #2, 30 seconds of adrenaline is not worth the risk, and the ramifications cant be taken back.

no "UNDO" button in life.

Tragic... right in my backyard. Prayers go out to the family... and folks, don't get taunted into street racing. This is what could happen, this is very real...
