To stay within the market I can see that as being the starting point. I know a lot of companies are going with turbo 4's for their base engine in their sedans but if its going to be similar in size or at least close to the charger I'd think a v6 would be the better option. I've read numerous comparisons for both the Mustang and the Camaro showing that the base level v6 is just as fuel friendly as the turbo 4. Kinda interesting that their gonna go with that engine option for the base.

Not dismal at all, sales are for the most part right on point for a limited production car. Don't forget they only built 3k a year except for MY17, they are building 4k for the last year. Try to find on in a M6, next to impossible unless you order it.

Since this thread seemed to turn into an SS sedan topic I'll insert my opinions.
The SS is an awesome car. Just upset they discontinued Jungle Green. My biggest gripe with the car is that there is only one way to get it, fully loaded. I don't need all those damn useless options. Not only that there was no lease deals available. I realize I swap cars way too much and coming to terms I may be better off leasing lol. Case in point, I just sold my Mustang and leased a new scat pack. For $385/month with nothing down you couldn't beat the deal. |

Price per ton, yes the Charger is a deal. But I think that segment is going to expand, and Kia will be one of the first to test the waters against the Charger. Not to mention, every police officer I've spoken to still prefers the old Crown Vic to the Charger in terms of reliability. Now, I don't see Kia taking away any of those sales to municipalities anytime soon but Dodge needs to be wake up if they think no one is going to enter that RWD sedan market in the near future. Which is what makes this Kia interesting. If it enters at the right price point, younger buyers will certainly consider it.

I love it. It reminds me of my G8 GT, which was one of if not my favorite car I owned. Not as agile as my Mustang or G8 but that's to be expected for a 2 ton+ sedan. It's much faster than the G8 and faster than my Mustang when it was stock. Roomy and spacious for the whole family and being green is what did it lol. Hard to do a full review as it only has about 300 miles on it as of right now. I do happen to really like the uConnect system. I'm not a technology in a car person but it comes standard so I didn't pay for it, but it's got some cool features. Apple Carplay is great. My biggest complaint is that it doesn't come standard with HID's. For a $40k+ car it's sad. This is my 4th modern mopar since I believe 2012. I have never had an issue with them. Reliability has always been great, never been to the shop.
I know this thread has gotten way off topic but if you have other questions you can PM me. As to topic. I don't technically think this will effect the Charger sales. I don't think it will ever sell in the sheer volume that the Chargers do. This is more a direct competitor to luxury sport cars. It will be interesting to see though as I think this car is gonna do well if it's priced right. I wouldn't mind picking up a AWD TT6 for the wife next year when her Jeep lease is up. |
