You have one of the unicorns!
Awesome. I wonder if 1LS is lighter than 2LT...I'm guessing at least a little bit, although maybe not. The stuff in 2LT over 1LS wouldn't add a lot of weight. It isn't like the old days where the base model didn't have A/C, power windows/locks, etc and the difference was significant. It would be cool if Chevy made a 1LS/1LE stripper that was kind of like the Z/28 with no A/C, no back seat, no stereo, etc. 3300lb maybe? Of course, they would only sell a dozen or so. |

I never thought of it as being a unicorn but there's no question there are going to be a lot less of the V6 versions running around than the SS.
While I was working on some things yesterday I decided to do a proper weight check on it. After setting up a level area I got both an empty weight and one with me in the seat. Car was indicating slightly over 1/2 tank of fuel. Unladen display: With me in it and having rolled it on and of the scales a couple of times to settle it. I was actually pretty surprised at what the front/rear distribution is, only 30lbs heavier on the front axle than the back! That's about as close to 50/50 weight distribution as your going to get. Cross weights are pretty good too, 49/51. |

Well damn, you guys are obviously right!
I've been using these things for almost 15 years and that's the first time I've ever made that mistake. |

Now, I would like the Camaro to weigh less but that cost $$$. And one thing that I absolutely love about our 1LEs is the price point to performance equation. Its ridiculous. I have another American muscle car that weighs under 3,400 lbs full of fuel, but it cost an extra $90k+. It comes with carbon hood, carbon "trunk," less sound insulation, carbon bits everywhere, essentially no stereo, carbon ceramic brakes, etc. So, keep on shaving a few pounds off our cars Chevy with the MSRP in the affordable range please. It is my DD that will also be tracked often. Plus, it is just so classic American cool. |

2018 1SS 1LE weighed 3660 with no fuel.
Only option was PDR. Remainder as GM delivered now with 750 miles. Wish it was less, but happy it isn't the 5th GEN weights. Last edited by Tim M; 07-28-2018 at 08:29 PM. |

ZL1 1LE 3797lbs with a 1/2 tank, a 6 pack of beer and an overnight bag. This weight was on SS 1LE 20’s, which are 19lbs heavier total than the OE 19’s (I weighed them both). So, the ZL1 1LE is 3775 with a 1/2 tank. Lighter than Chevy specs (I’ve seen 3820-3840) listed.
And yes, it does look good on SS 1LE wheels, though the front is a little too sunk in @ -3 camber. |

It would be more useful to folks if fuel tanks were topped completely prior to weighing...subtracting 19*6.3 for the fuel and end with reliable data for how heavy the car is.
Partial tanks of fuel can vary significantly on factory gauges. Understandably, half tank weights during corner weighting makes sense as the car closer to average 'OP' weight. |
