Just got a call. They believe it is rod knock, but have to send a request to GM to see if they will cover it. But...they said there may be an issue because I have CAI intake, mishimoto catch can and VTC modifications...

Now I am worried that they won't warranty the work because of those modifications...

Even though, if it is rod knock, those mods wouldn't contribute to the damage...

I would ask them how rod knock killed your power. Love to hear that explanation.

rod knock, didnt see that coming as an explanation. how does that have anything to do with a dead battery. whole story is puzzling to me. interested in updates.

Sorry to hear man! A rod knock shouldn't be caused by a CAI unless it caused a really lean condition. VTC has nothing to do with it either neither does the catch can.
As long as you're not tuned you should be fine so think positively! Also, see this thread for advice if GM wants to pin the mods against you http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=471953 Keep us posted |

They should prove to you how those mods would have caused the problem. Be positive.

Thanks for the replies. They said they did a charging cycle test and that came back fine. Battery alternator etc. So while they left if run idling and shutting it off, then it wouldn't start again. IDK if it was due to low compression from the failed rod or not.

I agree, there is no way my mods would cause rod knock. Not even a valve train failure...guess we'll see what they say...
