I have no "RESPONSIBLE" reason for interest. I love the SCAT and like I said I am interested and appreciate your words of wisdom, because in a perfect world we wouldnt waste money desiring things we don't have.... but then I saw a 1LE and peaked my interest, then saw the video above while that interest was enforce and that got me really considering it.

Just interested is all.

Never wanted to start you guys in a debate. Sorry.

And yes I would miss the heated steering wheel and vent/heated seats if that decision was made. But this is a toy and not a daily driver I have an SUV for that.
Don't be sorry, debates like this are important and often times provide insight that can be useful even to those that did not start the thread. Butthurt is a side effect better left ignored.

I purchased a 5th Gen 1LE with the intent of tracking it a few times a year. It wound up being more expensive than I thought, and things changed in my life causing me to spend that 'track' money elsewhere. To get to the point, I ultimately sold the 1LE because the price of admission was just not worth it considering I was not tracking it. Was the handling improved, yes of course, but you can do that for a lot less than $6,500. My experience was that owning a 1LE and not tracking it was pointless, and thats when the package was half what it costs now.

Either way you will like what you are driving, just wanted to provide some insight from a previous 1LE owner that used the car as a DD.

Nope, not lumping anyone in to any category, just stating a well known fact. If you get your 1LE to the track, good on ya. At least you're using it for what it was designed for.

Debates are healthy and good for the community, no one should get their feathers ruffled. I don't

Check out the 2SS as mentioned. That's the G6 Camaro I have and the amenities are great. I opted for the mag ride suspension and NPP exhaust (must haves IMO especially with the aftermarket exhausts being outrageously expensive for this car). I'd drive around one of those for a day and see how you like it compared to the Scat, but if I could only have one it'd be the Challenger as I mentioned already.

Excellent real world feedback right there. To add to this, I've had several friends wad their cars up at road courses and guess what, insurance don't cover that. A lot more risk in a $45K car vs. a $5K BMW beater. Most of them have gone the beater route these days.

Debating on if everyone is going to use any car to truck to it's intent is pointless.

Does every SS 1LE owner autocross it, no.
Does every Bugatti owner drive at 250 mph, no.
Does every Jeep owner ride trails, no.
Does every Hellcat owner drag race, no.
Does every Ferrari owner track it, no.

Etc, etc...

If the guy likes the car, even if based on looks (which is much better than a regular SS in my opinion), and on Tour mode the ride is better than I ever imaged it could be. Just let him buy what he wants. It's his money, not ours.

His only actual question in his OP was if he would fit comfortably due to his height...which he will as I am taller.

I'm 5'11 and 180lbs and find the 2SS cramped compared to my Challenger. So I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder. My helmet also kept hitting the roof at the track in the Camaro and I had to drop the seat way down to prevent it.

Shall we keep going?

I'm 6'2, 250 lbs, and I have inches above my head...no issues what so ever with my helmet. Not sure if the Recaros are different or not. But, you are comparing it to a Challenger which is quite frankly a huge ass car for one that only has two doors, so yeah, it should have more room.

Which is relevant to OPs questions as he has a Charger Scat Pack so basically the same as my Challenger.

2SS has electric seats as you know, so no idea how they sit compared to Recaros but it's certainly tight quarters to me and I'm not a big guy. Maybe I've just got a big head? All in what you're willing to live with or used to I guess. I accept it as a compromise in the Camaro, comes with the territory of a smaller car but I traded a 370Z on it, so used to it as well. OP may not be which is why I suggested he rent one for a day or so to try out.

No wrong answers where opinions are requested mate and I'm sure you've been around long enough to know these kinds of discussion meander a bit on topic.

Well aware how things work on forums, but the original question seemed to totally get lost...simple as that.

First off you guys are great

I'm going to put it all out on the table. No matter how I spin it owning a muscle car in today's society geared towards unmanned, high MPG, alternate energy sources its just so damn politically incorrect it's sick heh. But I'm an irresponsible guy that loves my HP, please try and tell me otherwise! LOL

Love my SCAT told my wife just other ride "DAMNIT I CANT EVEN TOUCH THE THROTTLE AND I"M OVER 90MPH while talking to you casually..."

Say to her: "WHERE THE HELL other than at the strip can I have any fun with this car!?!?

And look where I am right now and what I'm considering!!!

HEHEH. I just love HP and can't fight it. If I could have afforded the Hellcat I would have got it. If I could afford a ZL1 (I technically could but just not that dumb financially to do it, got a family to think about first!) so I'm totally going to give the 1LE a chance for the simple reason 1) I work for GM now and am a person that has a lot of pride in supporting the Co. that also supports me. 2) They are pretty badass cars.

The last stick I owned was a new 1988 Mustang 5.0 and was like 19 back then and I'll never forget how fun it was. If the Charger had come with a Manual I would have opted for it. When I got the Charger I cared about the back seat because my kids were younger then and with 3 vehicles and this being a toy (like the SCAT ultimately is) only real concern is my fit inside the vehicle and how I like driving it.

Heated Seats, steering wheel, sunroof etc... those ultimately I dont care enough one way or another.

Does this help at all?

Get the SS 1LE then, you will love it...it's the most fun I've had driving a car is a long time as it does so many things well.

I could get in to a whole other discussion on auto vs manual with today's modern transmissions, but don't have time today LOL. Challenger is a manual and the 2SS is an auto if that tells ya anything.

With that I'm out.

6'6 260 here and I fit very comfortably as a bigger guy. I almost got a scat pack challenger (brother has an A8 scat) but with all the features/performance the 1LE offers I couldn't pass one up. If the scat pack charger came in a manual I would've definitely gotten one purely from a functionality standpoint. That being said, I love my 1LE (had it an entire 5 days and its my daily lol) and after spending a decent amount of time in scat packs I would take the 1LE any day just based on how it drives/handles. I am still amazed how much fun i have in it compared to my 15 mustang GT.

I am not sure your claim that 99% of ILE owners will never track the car can be considered a fact. I could see that possibly being the case for 2SS drivers taking their cars out to track days or autoxing, but I suspect 1LE customers have previous track/autox experience or are interested in getting involved in those venues and therefore purchased the car because of its attributes, regardless of how many times they would go per year. Some may just appreciate the car for what it is without ever going anywhere near its limits, but I can't see that being 99% of the buyers.

No feathers ruffled here, debates are good. The 2SS is also a great car, especially if you like more amenities, but for me, the 1LE filled the bill amenity wise, and the recaro's are quite comfortable even for an older guy like me. The hard thing is that due to more limited production, many may never get the chance to even sit in a 1LE, let alone test drive one, to compare against the 2SS prior to making a purchasing decision. At least that was the case back in November when I was car shopping. As for the Challenger scat pack, did see it at the auto show, and its a very nice vehicle, but I just couldn't get myself motivated to visit a dodge showroom for a test drive, if they even let you do that. Now if I wanted a straight line fun car, that would have been given more serious consideration.
