I owned a 2016 2SS until June when I got in a bad wreck and currently driving a fully loaded 2016 Mustang Ecoboost as a rental until I can buy a new vehicle.

I won't go over looks because that is based off the individual. The first I will say that I'm a larger person or how I phrase it is aerodynamic and I have a harder time getting in and out of the Mustang. Large part of it is that the Camaro has an easy exit feature that when you get out it will adjust your seat. In my case I have the seat set to go back a few inches and raise up which the Mustang doesn't do.

A few other issues I have is no heated steering wheel, the steering wheel doesn't feel as tight except in Sport mode and even then not as crisp.

Next is gas mileage. In my Camaro I would average at least 26-28 mpg with my normal driving habits the Mustang I'm setting at 18 mpg right now but to be fair I'm doing maybe 10% more city street driving but even with 40 miles of smooth highway I was getting around 20 mpg.

Finally are the controls. I find them counterproductive for example to switch the handling it has a switch on the bottom and only scrolls one way so in other words you have to go trough all the modes to get back to the original. The center console with hvac and radio are alright but not as flowing as the MyLink like if your changing the HVAC you have to press home a few times to get back to the top. And a major buzz kill is no Heads Up Display or sunroof.

My suggestions on options will be a 2SS with MRC, NPP and Sunroof if it feels a little cramp. Hope it helps

I own a 5.0, and I just rented the camaro 1ss for 4days

Mustang - better as a real car, bigger trunk, easier egress/ingress, more comfortable just cruising, better visibility, bigger interior

Camaro - the mustang is a regular car with a big engine by comparison. The camaro is a true balls the the wall sports car. The camaro feels faster than even the large lap time difference in the magazines suggests. The camaro is much better built, which I posted all about in another thread. My mustang has had a much easier life than the camaro I rented, yet at 26k miles, the camaro felt like a bank fault by comparison.

Even though the mustang is better suited to everyday life, the performance difference and build quality are so much better there is no way I could see anyone buying a mustang right now over the camaro. The additional practicality of the mustang is not worth it at all.

I also thought that mustangs had a better sounding v8. This can't be denied, mustangs have always sounded good. I couldn't believe how good the camaro sounded. I would litterally stand out in back of it and remote start it every time I got in. My mustang sounds good, but the lt1 sounds better.

I will say, while the lt1 feels a lot more powerful than the 5.0 overall and stock vs stock I'll take the lt1, although I wish it had the torque curve of the 5.0. The camaro really feels like peak torque is around 3500-4k and it runs low on steam at 6k. The mustang has that gradual high revving torque buildup and pulls hard at the top end, which is more enjoyable from a sports car in my opinion. Lt1 would be perfect with some bolt ons that move the power curve to the right.

Test Drive them both extensively. So much is subjective.
The SS has better performance metrics. The GT is generally cheaper. The challenger is bigger all around.

All 3 (Camaro, Mustang, Challenger) are good options and we should be happy to have them.

I ultimately preferred the GT over the SS. I found the performance difference negligible when considering the design and comfort aspects.

The center console buttress annoyed my leg in the SS.
I preferred the visibility in the GT.
I preferred the exterior and interior styling as well.
I enjoy hanging my arm out the window, which was impossible to do in the SS comfortably.

The sound of the SS was far superior to the GT, but I rectified that with an h-pipe and axle back.

I looked hard at the Mustang before ending up with the 2SS... I actually almost bought the Mustang, I went as far as writing the check, filling out the contract but didn't take possession of the car.

The Mustang is a nice car, But if you're buying brand new... Know that newer and better is literally just around the corner. It's getting a significant update for 2018, Speculation is a dual mode exhaust like the Camaro, better stereo, LED headlights, new bumpers, new colors and what is confirmed is a new 10 speed automatic transmission and an LCD instrument panel like the 2LT+.

The Challenger is a much older car also, Originally put on sale in 2008 and only got a refresh in 2015. Same suspension, body just different dash lay out, seats, bumpers and lights.

+1 ^. I'm a small guy. 5'5 and first time getting in and out of my Camaro was a struggle and since I'd have to move the seat close it will always be a struggle, but if you're tall enough to have the seat back far enough getting in and out should be fine

Would those habits consist of cruising down the freeway in neutral?

Oh yes....the Camaro is oozing with build quality. You definitely haven't been on this forum long enough.

It's a thirsty beast, but I was prepared for it...

I'm lucky to get 15 in town if I baby it and follow the skip shifts (which I hate). The one big road trip I took, I got 19. I'm hoping it will get a little better after it's fully broken in (1300 miles so far) but mileage isn't the reason I bought the car.
