I have an Escort 9500ix and also run Waze on my phone with police alerts on the stereo via bluetooth.

I can literally cruise at 90-110 mph through Connecticut on my regular trips between Boston and New York City and back without breaking a sweat.

Between them both, it is next to impossible to get caught.

** and for the Mommy Police™ on here, I'll take my attentive and experienced driving at speed over someone completely oblivious or someone weaving in and out when it's congested. I know when I can go fast and when to slow down.

It's true that instant-on and pop-radar put a big dent in the effectiveness of radar detectors when they arrived, but even so, if there are other cars out on the road, a good detector with decent range will still alert you when the cars ahead are getting lit-up. It's when you're all by yourself that trouble starts to brew!

thermal IR searchlights mounted to front bumper and thermal IR nightvision with all the running lights turned off works for me!

I for one know mine has paid for itself several times over. Get a good one. Is it a guarantee, duh nope. You can still get tagged and if you push the envelope all the time you definitely will get tagged sooner or later.

I use mine daily. So I speed everywhere I go all of the time? Nope. Dose it remind me to check my speed when it goes off? Yep, Has it went off in more than enough time to save me? Yes, several times. Mine has a range of 8x that of the average police radar. So to say it is useless is far from true.

I think radar detectors are pointless. I base that on years of driving fast and radar never being a factor any time i've been pulled over.

Drive with traffic and you should be fine as far as speed is concerned. Drive beyond that and just cross your fingers because you'll more than likely be caught not by radar, but by either speed traps, pacing or even laser.
