Bottom line is that you have read about this car for 5 years and that's all you know. Sales people must know a little about a lot of ever changing vehicles in the line up. They also have to put up with window shoppers trying to show off in front of their girlfriends. Is that an excuse? No. Is it right? No.

I am glad pilots aren't like car salespeople.

I don't mind sales reps not having every answer or maybe they wing it and or engage in a little puffing, but I have had one (yes, very small sample size) sales guy, who was the dealer's High Performance lead sales rep, tell me that the 2014 ZL1 does not have MRC. It wasn't even the fact that the High Performance guy didn't know his high performance cars on the lot, it was that he was so arrogant about it, insisting he was correct and briskly leaving me standing by the ZL1 as if I didn't deserve to be in his presence.

A couple minutes later I walked by him and the sales manager, and simply told him he should go read the window sticker.

When I bought my Volt a month ago, my salesman had only been in the country for 6 months, but was knowledgeable enough to answer my questions and work with me to get a decent deal.

Isn't it a great thing that we have forums to go to and get recommendations on good dealers and the ones to stay away from? I think the Internet has helped force dealers to be better, more competitive etc.

I think if someone doesn't know that's one thing. I can deal with someone who doesn't know as much about the car as I do. That's actually expected. I understand they can't read forums on every car on the lot and keep up with every minor detail. It's when they don't know, but they want to argue or make stuff up that I get ticked off. If you don't know, say that you don't know. Nothing wrong with that.
