If you did the same thing with a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla you would find the residuals are pretty much right on the money. The problem with leasing a Camaro is the resale is horrible and chevy knows it. So that is why they offer 52% residual after 36 months and a very high money factor. It will cost you $600 per month to lease a nicely equipped Camaro SS, which is about the same as financing one. Also, some folks don't want to be limited to lease conditions like mileage and worry about perceived excess wear and tear. Nothing like going to turn in your lease vehicle and you get a bill for $1200 in tires because you are treadwear was 1/16 lower than spelled out in your lease agreement. Leasing is a great option in some cases. I have leased many cars but they all usually meet the right criteria. High residual, low money factor and nice discount off of msrp. This is why Lexus has some great leases. Chevys, not so much.

Owning SSes for 50 Years

Yep, the old "depreciation" factor is huge. There is growing evidence that buying low mileage used cars a year old might be the right thing to do. I love my Camaro and don't expect to sell or trade ever...maybe.
I saw a 2016 Mustang GT Premium on the local Toyota used car lot. It was loaded and probably cost well over $44K new. They had it listed for $33K and I hate to think what the guy got on trade...probably under $30K.

Ram Lease
Quote:
April 2015 I 24 month, 20k mile leased a 2015 Ram Quad cab with Hemi, 8 speed, 20's, hitch and a few other things with no money down, no first or last months payment, no additional bank fees. I do have to pay a $288.20 turn-in fee at the end though; 22 payments of $288.20 a month. One more thing; at 18 months they begin to offer 2-5k in incentives to re-lease another vehicle. |

I am a bit leery of Chrysler Capital since they tried to claim damage after turn in on the '13 that wasn't there. I contested it and won but who needs the hassle. Ally is way easier to work with. My GMC Acadia goes back in a week and GM Financial has been pretty easy going. Hopefully that remains the case. I hope you enjoy your Ram! |
