Not sure why you say that, if anything it's easier than leather. It seems many just don't know how to care for suede and let it go...even then it is an easy fix. This stuff works great for maintenance, or to bring back uncared for suede: https://store.windingroad.com/sonax-...FZJahgodDqMEUQ

Takes a few minutes, unlike leather that needs to be cleaned and conditioned. I've had it in a few cars. I had it in my C5Z race seats for nearly a decade, they looked new when I sold that car. I just used the above cleaner every couple months...

I like leather too, but suede is nice as you don't get sweaty back syndrome and it holds you in place better.

I tend to agree, just chiming in w/ my .02.

You can leave the leather longer than suede/alcantara without addressing it....but it becomes....."greasy" looking? Shiny?

I've daily-driven the Camaro with suede for 3 years...in the sweaty heat of summer, and the nastiness of winter. It does get dirty...but a quick spritz of rubbing alcohol, a two-minute rub with a clean microfiber towel, cleans it nice, and a small nail brush brings it back to life.

I looked at it. I might try it...but for now, I mixed distilled water and rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle for about $4.00 all in. It works fantastic. And I bought a small brush for $1.50, and it makes the suede feel like it did when new.

Yeah, you nailed it, I'm an idiot who has no idea what he's doing. All of the Porsche owners wishing they could get rid of this option must be clueless too. I'm not going to get into a link war with you, but if you think it's easier than leather to clean, have your wife/GF/whatever lay her hands on it after putting on some lotion or sun block. If you like, knock yourself out. I said it was my personal preference that I'd rather have leather in my car since I don't track it.

But the GM "microfiber suede" is known to be easier to maintain than alcantara in lots of high end cars.

I've been around various automotive suedes for a good decade...I personally think it's less work than leather. We can agree to disagree...no reason to get so defensive over it.

This again? This whole notion that GM is missing out on a ton of sales not letting people option out a 2ss 1le is silly. The 1LE sold what? 5000 total for the entire gen 5 run? Want a 2ss to take to the track once a year? Then get one and put some wider wheels and track tires on it.

Look, i stated in my topic that this was MY PERSONAL PREFERENCE. You're on a friggen crusade with this. I mentioned it one other time earlier this year when the 1LE was announced and you went back and forth with me then to. I don't want fake suede in my car.

This wan't about what your personal preference was, if that was the case it wouldn't be an issue. Everybody can like whatever they want...

You made like it was hard to take care of, and it isn't. I actually track my cars, and I had zero issues keeping it looking like new with some simple maintenance.

It seems like you are taking it as I am insulting you or something? That wasn't my intention if you read it that way.

I have to agree with this 100% I only use a damp microfiber towel on mine and it brings it right back to brand new with a little rubbing.

It's less about sales, and more about letting people buy what they want. IF...if...a person was cross-shopping a GT350 and a 1LE...I'd expect those people are few...but if they were, and wanted amenities, they'd go to Ford.

However, if you're in the market for a Camaro, and know you want a Camaro...but also want to buy a mid-range priced version that excels at both daily driver services, and on the track...currently, that Camaro doesn't exist.

It exists in the Corvette line...in fact, you can opt for a Grand Sport with an automatic and a convertible top, if you want.....but not Camaro. Not anymore, anyways...

2SS/1LE's were about a 50/50 split last year, give or take. That is not insignificant.

And I don't agree with the "buy a 2SS and put bigger wheels on it" comment...that'd crude, and hypocritical. The same comment could be lodged at anyone interested in a 1LE in the first place....Go buy a 1SS, and put wider rubber on it. That's the same, right?

We all know it's not.

Never the less...full disclosure, I'm planning on a ZL1. It fits my desires better than a 2SS/1LE. But I have a 2SS/1LE currently...and I love it. I feel it's artificially-limiting to discontinue that combo.

I know it's not the same. But I'll bet you when you get right down to it 90% of the guys complaining they don't have all the creature comforts aren't doing much at the track anyway. I've never talked to a guy at a track and gotten into a conversation about how we wish we had different colored foot well lighting or power sunroofs. My point was that the 2SS is just fine for occasional track days and if it's putting in comparable lap times to my car it's no joke. Who is GM leaving out? Like 50 people?

I don't really care either way. I just don't understand the butt hurt over it. It's a track pack and optioned as such.
