Looks like they are putting a new one out every 3 hours? I'll be checking back for sure!

That R is a sick track car. Wish I could afford one.

Good grief...."Even though I was dead serious about turning the fastest lap time, that almost never happened...."...?????????????....So a fast lap did or didn't happen...??

The BS over lap times and comparisons will never end with this sort of statement....I think it's all an exercise in futility, even with MR Pro driver, blah, blah, blah...

I think this comment is speaking to how difficult it is to get a 'perfect' lap out of the car. It's very fast but a little bit on the knifes edge. So nailing each section just right all in one lap is extremely difficult to do. Another car might have a lower potential, but be much easier to max out, and as a result you might walk away feeling like you got the 'best out' of the laps you did. They may be slower because the car is overall slower, but you may have been closer to extracting the most speed out of the slower car, and feel like you left something out there on the faster car.

I took his comment as making a reference to smiling while driving and still going for the best lap time. 'THAT (the smile while working) almost never happens.'

Just MHO.

I believe he was saying the Car put a smile on his face, which almost never happens when he's working seriously to put down the fast lap for the car.

Anyways.

We are going to be comparing the 1LE to the 350R....its already happening...it will continue to happen. But we all know the 350R is faster and better on the track. Period. But that's OK, b/c the 1LE really lines up much better with the regular 350 (formerly the 350TP) and still does it for around 10 grand less than the ford. I call that seriously impressive my friends.

Its easily the best bang for your buck under the cost of a 350R.

The Voodoo motor just sounds AMAZING!!! That video made me want an R. However, I'm not paying stupid mark ups. Also for 20K more I still don't think I can justify it over a 1LE. Thats a sh*$ ton of consumables for track days.

What?!

GT350R = 1:36.11
'15 Z/28 = 1:37.82
'17 1LE = 1:37.6

.....With all the possible subjective variables for "Best Driver's Car", I think the 350R will probably get it...

....A lot of good attributes, even without the greatest lap time perhaps....Good for Ford if they get it....New engine, cf wheels, number one in sales.

If you are going to take it to a track, though, and time your laps, the best (quickest lap) track car should be the best driver's car imo....Maybe that will end up being the 350R as well...

If the criteria is a mixed bag of non-track, non timed-lap "features", then it's anybody's guess who will "win"....

It does sound amazing! I would love to have a Voodoo in the garage (and on the track). But, I am surprised the GT350R didn't do better than it does considering the Voodoo, and carbon fiber wheels and such. The C7 GS beat it by 4.7 seconds at the LL in the same year with the same driver. Plus, in the video, it looks as though it started raining for the C7 GS lap.

Also, the non-R versions of the GT350 are turning out to be significantly slower than the SS 1LE. Seeing how the Voodoo has about 70 more HP than the LT1, I though we would see better times in comparison. I think it just shows you how far ahead GM is with it's chassis development, suspension setup, and getting the power down to the road.

That is always the case with the Best Driver's Car competition. Remember, last year the Miata was in the top 3. And deservedly so. The Miata is a very fun car to drive on a twisty back road. It won't be anywhere near the others for track times, but it is still a blast to drive...
