No offense but I found 4 cylinder mode so objectionable that I bought a Range AFM defeater and only lost maybe 1/2 mile per gallon, you know what they say about opinions

Thanks for all of the feedback everyone, I really appreciate the diverse opinions.

So I test drove an A8 tonight without MRC ( My first test drive was an M6 with MRC 2 weeks ago) and I must say the A8 was fun to drive. Wanted to see how much of a difference the car was without MRC, and it was huge. Ride was really stiff compared to the ride with MRC, but I was very comfortable, and happy with what the A8 can do.

So now that I have driven both versions of the trans and MRC, I do think my best option is the A8 with MRC. If this car was only going to be a weekend car for me I'd get the M6 in a heatbeat. But really taking my commute into consideration, along with some of the other options the A8 models have compared to the M6 (Remote Start, AFM) I think it suits my current lifestyle more.

M6. I'll never own another automatic. I've gotten to the point where I can't stand to drive an auto. I guess I'm just one of those people who will always drive a manual trans.

My sentiments exactly. When I made the switch from auto to manual in my last car, I can't stand to drive an automatic, it just feels...empty like theres nothing for me to do, it's less engaging. Driving in traffic never bothered me and rowing the gears was half the fun.

M6.
There is a reason the 1LE is M6 only.
There is a reason the ZL1 is getting the A10 instead of the A8.

Go drive them all for yourself, and you will agree with me.
I really like the rev matching of my M6 as well.

Don't listen to the fan boys.
They always have excuses, and then reverse their position as soon as GM does the same.

I currently drive a M6 in my Roush, but I am strongly thinking of the A10 for the ZL1. Rowing the gears is pretty awesome, but you can't beat the automatics these days for quick shifting.
My daily driver is a 8 speed automatic.

I wonder if the clutch weight varies from car to car? I test drove the M6 and the pedal was heavy like a Doge Viper from the 90's. Engagement was Honda smooth, so it felt like an odd combination to me.

The A8 makes some VERY cool sounds when shifting near redline under full accel!

I could never get the gas mileage on the M6 that I do on the A8 when I'm in traffic or otherwise not participating in the driving. Nice to have a choice of performance vs economy when it's appropriate.

But after some issues locating one with the specs that I want, and being somewhat impatient not wanting to wait for one to be built, I am considering the A8 instead since there is much higher available stock of A8 2SS in my area. Also I have about a 140 round trip commute to work and can encounter serious traffic, which after thinking about it, would be easier to deal with having the Auto.

Just looking for some feedback from those who have been driving each style. While I love the M6, I really don't want to end up not enjoying it because I have a crappy commute, but I also don't want to feel like I'm settling for the A8 either.
I drive in SF bay area traffic and can handle a stick shift. it's no big deal.

I observed several people talking about the automatic overheating, malfunctioning and also shifting slowly.

That's just what I've observed

In the Camaro? The Corvette has had some issues but it doesn't have near the cooling the Camaro.
