I looked it up. The Giulia Quadrifoglio (4 door version) with the twin turbo V-6 tips the scales at 1524kg. That's 3360 lbs. So I can only imagine if Dodge uses this chassis along with the Hemi V8, we're looking at about 3900+ lbs. That's good news. The current Charger R/T tips the scales at 4400+ lbs. Something hopeful to be looking forward to. This would make a great replacement for my current Charger Police vehicle.

There's another rumor regarding the next-gen Charger that says it's going to shrink.

If FCA shrinks Charger any more I know FHP is going to kick them to the curb. Troopers are already complaining the current models are too cramped.

I think the average Trooper in Florida is what, about 5'10" - 6'? I could understand the cramped feeling. Here in Hawaii, the average officer is about 5'7" - 5'11". I'm 5'9", but with all my gear on, I feel snug in my Charger, but not cramped. But I only have the R/T, not the Road & Track package. I do hope the next Charger, when I'm ready for a new one, will NOT be too small.

I'm 5'4 but FHP rounded me up to 5'5.

I'm also going to be Auxiliary so I'll be spending most of my time in the right seat, and with the computer and electronics that is a tight squeeze even for me. Trunk space is another issue for us, the commercial vehicle enforcement guys have to drive Tahoes to fit all their equipment.

We looked at Chargers, but didn't like them. We had Impalas (old gen) from like 2006 through this year, but none available for new purchase. We just ordered 11 Taurus' and 2 Explorers.

Oh, and I'm 6' 1 1/2", 225. I have an unmarked Crown Vic being a Captain. My new Explorer just came in, which is nice as the Vic is dying. Personally, I'd have picked a Tahoe!

FHP is getting Explorers. Apparently Tallahassee isn't too enthused by Tahoe's price tag now.

The Explorer is cleaning up around here. Our Fire Department has traditionally bought Suburban's and Tahoe's, but even their new 2016 command vehicle is an Explorer. (The other 6 are still big Chevys)

There's also a rumor the HEMI is gone sometime into 2020. Good chance it will coincide with the new platform. Who's to say the present HEMI will even fit in the engine bay? The Giulia is a 3 series fighter, and I can tell you large displacement V8s will not fit in a 3 series either. Expect only turbo 4s and a hi-po 6 unless they lengthen/widen the chassis. Which would cut into weight savings.

Yup Ugly proto.

Looks like someone grafted a Saturn SC onto a charger then gave it a butt like a camaro

I kind of expect all the major cars to drop weight like that for the future...just the way things are going.

Anyways, by the time the new Charger comes out, we may be in for a new Camaro as well and it may still keep it's performance advantage over Dodge and Ford.

That car would look really good as a two door. The prototype looks a little too much like the Intrepid.

My other thought is, can Chrysler afford to lose the Law Enforcement Fleet sales? Because that car, as shown, isn't going to cut it. If for no other reason, all the concussion lawsuits coming from perps hitting their heads while being tossed in the back.
