Point still stands. Without the V6 there would be no Camaro. None. |

Agreed.....I was wondering how long it would take on this thread before we got the "you’re not a man if you don't buy a V8" crap....

Well said. Now if the point had been made that why would you buy a 50K 370Z when you could have a nicely loaded 2SS for 46K, I get it. We love the LT Camaro and how it helps keep this car being built.

The V6 wasn't even a remote possibility for me...had to get the V8, I am done getting the 2nd or 3rd tier motor on a platform. Which is pretty much what I have done in all my cars except my current one (which was also my first new car).
I also figure that from here on it will only be harder and harder to find a good V8 performance car so might as well get one now. That written, I only have a 5 mile commute (less than 9K miles in a year) and if I had a 7 hour one like OP, I would be in something very different...probably a Prius for the commute and a Miata for weekends/motorsports.

I was thinking the same thing. Absolutely nothing wrong with the V6 6th gen Camaro or for that matter the 5th gen as well. These are are definitely not neutered down and are great vehicles. I have the V8 but there will always be someone who says "why didn't you wait for the 1LE" or "why didn't you get a 'vette" The V6 is a nice ride and it is a real Camaro. And without the sales of the V6 we wouldn't have the hipo versions of the Camaro that everyone loves. I can't wait to see what the turbo 4 brings to the table.

I'm partial towards the v8 but the 5th and 6th generation v6s are very respectable engines. 6th gen v6 is putting down more hp than the 4th generation v8s.

The LFX in the 5th gen was awesome, and it sounds like the LGX is even better. However, if fuel economy is important then you might wait and test the turbo 4.

Timing chain was the biggest issue. As well as high oil consumption. I loved my V6 but the engine problems just really got to me. Glad they updated the V6 in the Gen 6.
