We don't really need a dedicated launch control.

Track mode with traction ON.
Rev to 3k rpm
Enjoy the massive torque

Don't say sub 4.0 too loud, there are grump Challenger guys insisting it can't be done, well really even 4.0.

My 2011 SS A6 has what seems to be sort of a launch control...if I put it in competive mode and hold down my brake and gas at the same time, my engine will rev up to around 12-1300 and stop. And then when I let go the brake it goes.

I had launch control and no lift shift on my SS/TC I was actually not a fan of either launch control slowed me down and no lift shift seemed to be a pita to get first to second really had to abuse it to use it. But when it pulled it off the no lift shift was the fastest runs.

I guess I'm full of it then because I tested it today and it worked exactly as the owner's manual describes.

Well, that settles that.

The car rev's until the set limit, once it levels off at that RPM, let go of brake and off you go.

Same process for the manual only instead of brake, you hold the clutch.

Car has to be in a set position regardless of the transmission
Are you SURE the auto has it? Do you have an auto 16SS?

The automatic transmission will come up against the torque converter and cannot go past it while you hold down the brake pedal assuming the tires do not break loose.

I have never heard of an automatic having LC. I had an M6 ZL1 and I know for a fact there was no LC in the auto ZL1.

Traction Control is another story. And for the record 'Stabilitrac' (as noted on the video) is about traction control, not engine rpm management which is what LC does on a manual trans car.

A co-worker of mine has the automatic and confirmed that it does have LC. Says so in the owners manual too.

And it says on page 223 of the manual and in very clear langauge:

Launch Control (when in Competitive Driving Mode) (Manual Only)

No Launch Control for auto-equipped cars. Traction and StabiliTrac, yes. But no LC.

I'm sorry but you are 100% wrong.

The auto has StabiliTrac which is about traction and vehicle dynamics but is not about maintaining a set RPM to launch the car.

Page 223 of the manual says it very clearly that Launch Control is for manual cars only.

No it does not and he is wrong. And, it is NOT in the manual about Launch Control for an auto. Stabilitrac helps with traction control but not engine rpm management which is what LC does for a manual trans car.

Read page 223 of your manual.
