More like a safe tow point in emergency situations. Eg. pulling out of a ditch, or onto a flatbed etc. A flatbed is required to tow the Camaro.

Yea, but when you need a tow in the 1/4 mile or on a road track you will get a quick tow from a track service truck. Then you can sit and wait for the flatbed. Without that tow hook things can get ugly. On the 5th gen you have to pull off the front clip and start drilling. Way to go GM.

Here you go. The instructions for the 2SS grill are in the Owners Manual but not all that clear. You remove a 6x4" section of the grill (passenger side top). Use a small flat tip screwdriver (with tape to protect finish) or plastic equivalent, stick it in the relief slot, pry downward and release the two small tabs on the top left and right. Then lift it out of the way. Tow hook then fits nicely. Reverse to install the grill section. Put the bottom in first and look carefully to make sure the bottom is aligned. Then push the top into place until the tab snap back into place.

Not difficult and takes about 5 seconds to do. But look at it carefully - especially when aligning it for replacement. Gentle pressure out, gentle pressure snapping it back in.

I thought it may have been the brake dust protectors but they do not fit.
