I also consider a Z07 equipped C7 Z06 equally gorgeous and at 1/10 the price of admission to the LaFerrari club, much less crazy an option.

The hard part with an M4, is it's meant to be a performance BMW right? But most performance oriented people want the best bang for their buck, the M4 is not that at all. But I get it, if some one really likes it looks sure... spend the extra cash.

But your LaFerrari is not really a good comparison. If I had the cash even triple the cash, I can't just go buy one.... People who buy high end Ferrari's do so for the exclusivity and privilege and my 2 cents... because they are crazy rich

I loved our '90 525 we bought as a family car and kept it for 11 years with over 240,000 miles on it. The handling, braking and overall driving dynamics is what helped me sell it to my wife even as we said at the time that it was on the higher end of our budget back then. Maintenance was something we budgeted for because of the commuting my wife had to do in SoCal back when we lived in OC but we did save a lot by only going to factory certified outside service centers specializing in BMW's for 1/2 the price and not to the dealers.

GM did not have anything that fit this segment here stateside but Holden was producing cars for the middle east which as we all know now began to bear fruit for us later in the decade and influence the arrival of the Cadillac Catera, the Cadillac that zigs.

The Catera and later on, the GTO, suffered from ho hum styling which I think help keep some away even as they where very competitive in the marketplace.

I would without hesitation buy any of the new Cadillac sedans as my spirited successor to our old 525. Cadillac and Chevy are boss now in chassis dynamics and performance. GM performance is boss.

Back in '85 when I came back from overseas, I was hell bent on an IROC Z but my dad talked me out of it due to insurance reasons for a young military man California bound and not living pay day to pay day. That brought me to my other dream car which was at the time was the 318i but my friend warned me about the maintenance cost and schedule they required since he had a couple of 320's back then.

I bought a Cavaier Z24 instead which kept more of my money in my pockets once I got on the left coast when it came to gas and insurance. IROC's, GTA's, and GT's were nice but most of my units parking lots were full of Turbo SunFire's, Escort GT's, or any other fun affordable pocket rocket of the time to include low rider mini trucks. I was still waiting for the day I would get my V8 muscle car.
