You guys act as if every truck GM is producing costs over $50k. You can still get a pretty damn well equipped truck in the $30k range. The fact of the matter is the market has changed, and trucks are no longer seen as just work vehicles. High Country and Denali sales make up a huge chunk of K2XX volume. It is what it is.

we just bought a almost as basic as you can get Chevy 2500 HD extended cab. 6.0 Gas, Vinyl floor, tiny non touch screen audio, does have cloth seats (actually wanted vinyl but cant find anywhere), Has power locks and windows, has back up camera in small screen,Bluetooth, Plow prep and trailer package. It is actually a pretty nice truck. Sticker was 40,610 or abouts and got them down to 34,610. It is everything we need with out all the added B.S. and its ptretty good value. Just wish the back up screen was a bit bigger and aimed at the driver its almost usless at 4" and aimed right up the middle of the cab you almost need to lean over and stare at it to be able to see anything.
For personal use I got a tundra last year. Tundra Quad cad (4 huge doors) Limited 5.7 Gas 4.10 rear axle tows like a beast. Leather seating 6.5" screen with back up camera, nav, heated seats, auto climate control, TRD package, tow Package, full sliding rear window which I love, big center console in the front, Blue tooth, steering wheel controls for everything. Sticker was 44,??? I got it down to 40,??? 4K off. I love my Tundra great truck for the money I was willing to spend. Only features I would like that it didn't have are push button start and cooled drivers seat. |

I've got a 2014 5.3 z71 crew and it's just awesome. The only complaint I've got is that the front end is too low... But a lift will soon take care of that. You can't feel the 8-4 switch at all. I drove a demo and I ran e85 through it and it was noticeable Only bc I was looking for it. Only other issue is its governed at 99..... And it gets there quickly and smoothly... Getting on the highway pulling a trailer and next thing you know... Shut it down... Definitely not intentional to pull a trailer that fast but it's easy to do in these trucks and not be aware of the speed you're carrying bc of how smooth it is. I average 17.3 and I'm at 20k on the truck. Bought it used with 11k last year. Be hauled hay and a 20 ft enclosed trailer and the truck wasn't even breathing hard... If I wanted something to show off with to say it has a 6.2 then I'd get one or if I wanted something good for resale but I don't need It. Paid 38 for mine last year. 1Lt with nav

The rest of the '15 truck is nicer for sure, I just don't think its $25k nicer.. And this is not specific to GM, Ford is really nuts on the new F150 prices, maybe the reason the sales declined. Maybe its just me.. Last edited by hockeylover86; 09-08-2015 at 11:24 AM. |

I don't know if it's here to stay or not. After all, people were paying ridiculous prices for houses ten years ago and look where that got them.

I think prices are here to stay. Its like a gas guzzler tax, I believe they are hoping that people who don't need a V8 go down market and get a Canyon or Colorado V6 to help there fleet averages. Or if they dont they are paying enough for the V8 full size that they can afford to buy the emissions credits they need from some one or give rebates for their own small econo cars to off set it. just a theory I could be crazy more like probably crazy!

My Dad traded his '08 LTZ for a '14 LTZ last August. His '08 had the 5.3L and he knew he wanted the new 6.2L in the '14, so he found one and bought it. He has a 20' speedboat and a fairly large, enclosed, tandem axle trailer that can haul up to 3 motorcycles. He said the 6.2L is leaps and bounds above the 5.3L. Do what you wish, but if you have heavy toys to haul, get the 6.2L. BTW (as already stated), the 6.2L also has cylinder deactivation.

The new 6.2 has AFM.
I would go with the 6.2 in a heartbeat. I have a 2010 with the 6.2 non AFM and I love it. I will be in the market in 18/19 and it will be hard to get rid of my current truck. Also check out GM-trucks.com there are a few topics on this very subject. Ryan
