I think the auto shows a bigger difference on the ats-v since it would allow the turbo to get spooled up at launch. With the lt1, as seen on the vette, the difference will be smaller between the two trans options.
And that's a problem. That's a M7 vs A8. Not what we are dealing with for the 6th gen. Short 2 cogs vs 1. Take that and multiply by 2 and you get 4 tenths difference in the 1/4. Matches the ATS-V close now. The shift speed isn't the big factor. Effective gearing is.

We'll see in a couple months. In terms of M7 vs M6, it's the 7th ratio that got added (<0.5:1). If the C7 were equipped with an M6 from the C6 corvette (with either non-z51 or z51 ratios), acceleration would be identical since the ratios of gears 1-6 are identical. 7th gear is not helping acceleration, since when it was implemented non of the other ratios changed including axle ratio.

Don't believe I said anything about the 1/4 mile.

I'm talking real world, where 90%+ of the people would do their "racing", streetlight to streetlight, or using the built in apps to 'paper race', so to speak.

There is an unequal amount of good and bad in most things, the trick is to work out the ratio and act accordingly.

True, but the addition of another gear makes the ratios between the power gears shorter, meaning less power drop off and more time in power. Splitting hairs without a doubt, but I believe I have uncovered the real story, the C&D test were coupe (M7) vs vert (A8). There's is a definite weight difference and would think the vert chassis is not as rigid as the coupe. That probably accounts for the 2 tenths. But again, look at all the cars with M6 and A8 options. Almost every A8 is pulling close to half a sec better times in the 1/4. There is nothing to say otherwise. Also remember the M7 in the C7 is geared more aggressive than the M6 in the gen based on the info from the ratios.

I found this posted by Vader on another thread...it sums up the last statement:

"
6th gen effective gearing
1st-9.92
2nd-6.63
3rd-4.84
4th-3.73

C7 Z51 effective gearing

1st-10.16
2nd-7.08
3rd-4.89
4th-3.42

That's not even factoring in the fact that the C7 tire height is a little shorter making the actual gearing of the C7 even better than those stats show. Why the manual SS didn't get the ATS-V ratios puzzles me a bit."

My bad you mentioned track and same day, so figured you were talking about the strip. I agree stoplight race will be closer, but who screws up more often? The auto has to worry about the launch, the manual has to worry about launch and not missing a shift. Advantage, auto all day.

Does anyone have the 5th gen 1LE (3.91) and ZL1 manual trans comparison charts?

Would love to see the zl1 manual shift mph too IIRC, they should be the same as the new gen 6 up to 4th gear.
