3800 is long gone and never coming back. That being said, it made 240hp/280 tq in 1996. That was huge for the cars it was in. Then it got a better blower and made 260ho/280tq in 2004. You have to realize, this was non intercooled. Very very few factory forced induction cars are non intercooled. With an intercooler, new gen blower (tvs series) and other modern technologies like VVt and direct injection, (could also be higher compression due to DI and the intercooler) it would make at least 400hp.

The reason it didn't have an intercooler is it made the power they wanted to using low boost and no IC.

Don't disagree, as there are plenty of folks on this site that still believe the Gen5 GT500 Mustang and Gen6 GT350 Mustangs are not built by Ford or that the 1LE is a Camaro model and not just an optional package on the SS.

Well, fwiw in all fairness, here's ford's 1954 pushrod V-8 (1 year ahead of Chevy)....GM saw the writing on the wall, and built a better one for 1955....but, Ford had it first and built many versions until the 90's IIRC...lol

Ford must have gotten its inspiration from the aftermarket Ardun head designed by Zora Duntov in 1947 to improve the Flathead He then joined GM and made history

Anyone knows who started development first? Still, it doesnt really matter. Chevy's smallblock somehow became a legend starting in 1955 still going strong(although old and new smallblocks dont have much in common)

While I'm sure my age has deluded some of my memory and therefore has forgotten some of the many shortcomings of carburetors, like their propensity to flood, require constant adjustment, susceptibility to hard starts when cold and hot, there is nothing quite like experiencing the secondaries open up at full throttle on an old Rochester four barrel.

I liked the way the garage smelled too after the car was parked that that fuel vapor mixed into the air. Otherwise carbs are like vinyl records vs digital. PITA but nostalgic for some
