I saw dozens of brand new mustangs last week while I was in Florida. Not once did I ever think for a second, that I was seeing a 6th gen.

I guess that they are a two door sport GT car . No, looking past the details that make each brand unique, I can see how some one that isn't into or following cars could mistake the two from a distance or at a glance. We can't understand because we are enthusiasts that look at cars in great detail all the time.

Mistaking a mustang for a camaro or vice versa is like your grandmother calling an xbox or playstation a "nintendo".

LOL Exactly. She doesn't know much about them or care all that much. Not everyone is a car enthusiast.

See what I did there?
Except the new Mustang and new Fusion DO have a ton of the exact same looks.
They look a LOT more similar than the new Mustang and Camaro do, thats certain.

(on a side note I really would like to see Ford put a 5.0L in a Fusion, I think it would be good Charger competition)

They have no more in common with a Fusion than a Camaro does a Malibu. Given now more than ever manufactures product lines share similar cues calling a Mustang a Fusion is no different than calling a Camaro a Malibu or Impala.
