LOL, this is a good point, it is whichever way you need to swing to make the Camaro worth it's weight in gold lol.

The SRT8 on the other hand gets trashed on these boards for having things standard that are not available on the SS and making people pay for it (just like the ZL1). I hope i made myself clear. If not, it wont bother me none.

So you guys are complaining because the posters here at Camaro5 like the Camaro over the Challenger and Mustang? You know you can go post at challengertalk.com and allfordmustangs.com right?

nope, you missed the point entirely, because someone likes a cheaper Camaro, does not make the other cars "overpriced". And it is sad when the argument is flip flopped from one model to another, that was the point.

The SRT Challenger is awesome but I still want a Camaro before it. The Mustang isn`t even an option anymore with its new styling making it ugly...

If I spent $7k in mods and only ran high 11s I'd drive the car over a cliff.

If Dodge was really stepping up its game the 470hp would be available in RT trim. The SRT trim is basically the "supposed" same trim level as the ZL1 and GT500. The only thing that I like is that its naturally aspirated as opposed to have an accident prone super charger.

I haven't paid much attention to the new Challenger, so this thread kind of got me into doing some research - especially given that I'm rather bored right now....lol. So, I used the threads linked above to keep myself occupied for a while. To wit...

The quickest bone stock 392 Challenger I could find went 12.25 @ 113 mph
Source

The quickest bone stock 2010+ Camaro I could find went 12.43 @ 112 mph
Source
NOTE: This is a corrected ET, and while I am a "you ran what you ran" type of person, will use this ET in deference to the Forum on which I am posting.

The quickest bone stock 2011+ Mustang GT I could find went 12.22 @ 115 mph
Source

I also did average ET's (ya, quite bored). I couldn't find a "bone stock" Mustang 5.0 list, but if someone knows where one is, link it, and I'll do the math.

Average Challenger 392 ET based on above link: 12.76
Average Camaro SS link based on above link: 12.86
NOTE: About of third of the Camaro SS ETs were corrected, but like I explained above, I used them anyway.

I suspect the Mustang average is pretty close to both of those. In the end, their performance is pretty danged close, IMHO.

I believe 38-40k but they are stealerships are marking them up to 55-60k!!! How does dodge allow this i have no idea! It defeats the whole purpose of that trim level.

Since youre using corrected times for the camaro you should do the math and correct the 392's and 5.0's. Especially the 12.2-12.5 times that are getting ran well above 1000ft da.

The 392 will walk a LS3 with everything being equal. The 392 vs 5.0 with all things equal is one hell of a race with me giving a VERY slight edge to the 392. It could very easily go either way tho. Now for the L99, ehh nevermind.

MSRP is over 40K. Base MSRP with destination + gas guzzle is 45,920 or almost 46K. More if you want the yellow jacket version.

Sounds about right.

Crazy how when i bought mine in 07 the base msrp was $38k. Now its 10k more. Its a better car but a $10k price jump seems a bit much.

No way in hell would i pay $46k for a charger (super bee) and still not have the best trim level.

Eh, I was just using what was posted, being that this is their Forum.

Sounds reasonable - at least stock to stock. A 392 would have a harder time against a Boss, though still might have a slight edge.

If we were to move to bolt-ons, there is one 5.0 in the high tens, another that ran 11.00, and more in the low 11's. SS's are quite a ways from that. What do 'bolt-on' Challengers run?
