@matster adding a supercharger would be alot more than the 4000 difference between a 2SS and a GT500. It doesn't cost 10000 more for a GT500 with comparable appointments. The reality is for the 44-46000 the GT500 can't be touched.

You're right, the 1SS Camaro doesn't have a supercharger -which is the single most important feature of the GT500. Then again, neither does the 2SS. A lot of the stuff I've seen in the 2SS I haven't seen in the GT500. A lot of the stuff in the GT500 I haven't seen in the 2SS.

Where are you getting a $40 000 2SS from? I guess if you load it up with everything sure. But a no option 2SS is about 14k cheaper than a GT500 is ($46 325 msrp + 850 delivery +~1000 GG tax). If you want to add options to the SS, thats fine. Add them to the GT500 too though please. And you don't need forged internals on an SS to get up to GT500 level performance. If you're looking at going for 650 rwhp, yeah you need to do more work on the Camaro if you want it to last.

the single most important feature is the built engine from factory, not the supercharger

GT500 is more or less loaded from the outset. There are options, but there aren't a lot of them. To meet a base GT500 option for option you would have to start with a 2SS and add on a few items. Comparably equipped the gap in pricing is still large to say the least, but it is smaller than some on here seem to think.

In the end, threads like this mean nothing because this is a camaro site and if you're on this site (more times than not) chances are that it doesn't matter what the ford does cause you're buying a camaro regardless. Also, most aftermarket supercharger setups are made for reliability and streetability. If you don't go too overboard with the boost, and treat the car right, a stock ls3 bottom end will hold up for a very long time.

Very True. From a purely performance standpoint, though...since I don't think most here are buying a luxury car (like me)....features don't matter a bit, and the price gap is HUGE.

Absolutely. With the GT500 you pay to play without a doubt.

So at a minimum we are looking at $8000 difference in price then? Loaded 2SS vs basic GT500?

I would say you are in the neighborhood, the gap may even be a bit larger than that truth be told.

Most dealers are still trying to get over MSRP on the shelby. But you could put a magneson or whipple on a camaro SS and still be cheaper than than the shelby MSRP.

Both are going to be damn quick so go with the one you like the looks of.

Yes the gap is wide but the hp difference also widens when you consider throwing a cheap pulley and tune on the cobra. If you throw the kind of boost the cobra will take on the camaro you will also have to forge the motor.

no dealer that isnt high is asking over sticker. Most arent even going for sticker, even for the 2010 model some are offering 500 over invoice. And for 2009 the deals are getting better.
