I'm at over 600hp and on a stock bottom end and about 3-4k miles since the install. I do have a lot more to support the power of the supercharger. I went with a boost a pump, but LPE has dual and triple setups. On the stock fuel system you risk running lean. Don't go for 10+ lbs of boost and expect your car to run fine. Im not sure about the whipple but the maggie comes with 6; i think most people arent having problems with that amount of boost. Another thing to take into account is a good tune for your car. when i first threw my s/c on i was at 553hp, but my A/F was at 13.5....i got it retuned at another shop and am now at 11.5 with meth.

It really depends how you drive it; if you're revving at 5k rpms+ everytime of course you have a greater chance of a rod shooting out.

hope that helps!

Your best bet would be to just slap on a Vortech and be done with it. Don't put your baby into surgery. If your looking at about 500 at the rears and a nice power curve that goes with the RPM's and is as drivable as stock.

I have a Whipple, cam and ported heads on a stock bottom end for 7k miles now. I do plan on going with forged internals in the near future but that's because I'm shooting for 700+RWHP/TQ.

My recommendation would be to do the cam/valvetrain and SC at the same time. If I could do it over again that's what I would have done. Instead I did the cam first and then later decided to do the SC. Had to get a different cam and added labor for another tear down. Had I done it all at one time I would have saved some $$ on my labor bill. Just my .02

what are you looking to ultimately get up to? 500 600 700? If your just going for 500 go with a supercharger. If your looking at 600 or 700+, then have you thought about forging the bottom or getting a bigger block or stoking? fully building the engine? If I had to do it over i would have built the motor, then went FI and cam.

I would be satisfied with having mine around 500 RWHP...you gave me some good info Josh and from the sounds of it my best bet is going to be just a S/C and if by some miracle I get a raise down the road and decide I want to dump some more cash into the car will do the cam as well but I think for what I'm looking to achieve...both the big boost of power as well as trying to not sacrifice driveability the S/C will be my best bet. Now the question is...which one?? I've looked through a lot of them already and trying to find which one produces the most power throughout the entire powerband...

whipple makes one of the best s/c out there. whipple uses a bigger 2.9 L s/c, has cooler discharge temps, more efficient twin screw , you can use most aftermarket cai, its CARB legal, top notch customer service. makes more power per pound of boost while keeping discharge temps low. and it looks bad ass.

have you thought about a turbo setup? talk to manny, and check with jay about the procharger setup he has; nick also has the whipple so you might want to check with them or see if theyll give u a ride!

Whipple is actually what I had before and was really pleased with it. I definitely wouldn't mind running one again and finally got to see one in person at C5FestII and they look great. Haven't checked too much into pricing on them though...see if I have any hook ups

Well I do have a hookup with STS and I think was quoted at $3k for the rear mount turbo kit...not for sure on that though. I'll have to hit the contacts list up and see if I can't get ahold of him again. Originally was going to work out a sponsor deal but told him I wasn't sure about showing cars again Should've taken the damn deal!!

not sure what the current turbonetics setup cost, but there is a lot of custom piping so your install wont be cheap! I know theres a deal with a vendor on this site that is selling the maggie kit for $5999 in texas. they also carry other supercharger as well. Try calling Ted @ Jannetty and talking to him. I (think) he'll take care of tuning your car too.

if i were you i wouldnt get a rear mount setup, i would get it in the engine bay......just my opinion

I'd definitely trust Ted with my tuning for my car lol but I think he's not in CA though right? So I couldn't get him to dyno tune it for me I'd have to pull that off myself...

don't know if your planing on having your set up be CARB legal but thats one of the reasons went with my set up.
