rear passenger side. I let the speakers break in properly. THis one has been crackling since about two weeks into driving the car. Although it could be a clip rattling. I have not self diagnosed it properly as I will let the dealer figure it out for once. lol

So has anyone actually changed their oil on their own and verified it took 10 quarts to fill? This is my first LT1 engine and can't believe it takes 10 quarts.

Mine took a pinch more than 10 for whatever reason. Also the oil was changed at 1500mi and was ridiculously clean and lacking any shavings ect. Diff oil is next up probably tonight if my friend's lift is available XD.

Glad that works for you, i dont want a dealer touching my car unless i need warranty. And I can guarantee you on these "free oil for life" packages , they're not using a good synthetic…

Mobile 1 full synthetic. And my best friend is the lead mechanic at that dealer. So I should be fine. I hope!

I work in maintenance at a motor manufacturing plant (not GM). CHANGE YOUR OIL NO MORE THAN 1000 MILES!

Did my first oil change on the car..
Word of caution: the trajectory of the oil is dramatic! I thought I had the catch pan high enough but instead the oil sprayed ask the way into the lift ramp's rail.... oops! Luckily I got the catch pan up high enough that only probably 1L got spilled. ..lol Otherwise everything went great. I'd also recommend a long skinny filter for ease. |

Hey Guys..
Just got my Camaro 2SS a couple of weeks ago.... and I have been driving it non-stop to get the break in period done and over with. My original plan was to change the oil @ 1000 km....... but the break in period according to the manual is 2414 km.. so now that I'm passed it I went to 3 different GM dealers and they said not to change it, because the oil they initially use is a BREAK-IN oil......... and in order for it to properly work it needs to be changed according to the indicator. I asked if I could get a quart of the oil that use, just in case I needed to add oil, and it was the BLUE plastic AC Delco with Dexos oil... Anyways I have a few questions. 1) I always thought it would be best to change it after 1000 km to get the metal shavings out... They say with today's precision in manufacturing the metal shavings aren't as a big problem as they used to be. Sure there will be some but it wont be as bad as it once was....... so what do I do? 2) At the dealer they said I could upgrade to Castrol, Mobil 1, or stick with the AC DECLO blend.... which should I go with..... in my 2006, 2008, 2010 jettas 2.5....... I've always used Castrol full synthetic blend and never had any issues whatsoever..... But given this is a performance engine is there any particular brand I should go with mobil 1 vs CASTROL??? what do you guys use? 3) Here in Canada we get 4 oil changes 48,000 km or 2 years which ever comes first......... I wouldn't mind paying for the first one just to get rid of the metal shavings but........as explained earlier dealer said not to change it..... since the oil helps it break in better with all the additives they added at the factory.... so what do I go with............................ my brain that says to change the oil now.... or by what the dealers have told me ....to go by the oil life indicator?? Then again wouldn't they want you to damage your car, so you buy another product from them?? 4)in the manual it says not to track the car, or drive the car HARD until after 2400 km, and after the break in period to change the axle fluid after 24 hours of racing it........ I don't plan on taking the car to a track, but should I change it just in case there are actual metal shavings in the differential / axle anyways? 5) the manual also says to change the oil in the 8 speed auto if planning to drive it hard in competition....... but I thought these trannies were of the sealed type and didn't need to be serviced / had their fluids changed unless there was a serious problem with the tranny........ so what is it? I just plan to do fast take offs.......... peel outs from time to time....... and yea yea it's immature but that's what these beasts were made for!! So do I change tranny/ axle fluids or not?
