Yes. Lived in Danville and autocrossed with the SFR SCCA (in fact did all their scheduling and site negotiations for several years) and AAX. Then built the 93 Camaro and ran the Camaro Mustang Challenge series with NASA from 99-2003. Took the 96 1LE to Topeka for Nationals in 96. That was a long September drive to and from in a black car with no AC. I drove over and flew back and my codriver flew over and drove back. She won a National Championship (FSL) that year in the car.
One of my competitors and a multi year Natl Champion in ESP when I ran the 98 in that class ran an 89 1LE, but the version with the 350 and the A4. So much torque it was a monster. I put 1LE control arms on my 93 non 1LE car as you couldn't source the bushings alone, but those bushings even though they were rubber were so hard they felt like delrin or metal bushings. In the 3rd and 4th Gen they were no nonsense no compromise RPOs. It has gotten slightly more civil since then but the 5th and 6th gens are great cars, just with a few more creature comforts than they used to have.

Probably because 1LE is available on 3 different models and they each have different equipment in the packages. Using A1X, A1Y and A1Z allows the factory to differentiate what equipment actually goes on the car, while just using 1LE as the name.
