Maybe try a heavy IPA and then a detailer spray. That has worked for me on vynil before.. The detailer added some moisture(the IPA can dry it enough it has a streak look)and a dark "sheen" but not greasy, made the color uniform. Try first on a tiny or less noticeable spot to see how it reacts.

Adams matte detailer works wonders on our matte hoods.

It was a mistake I made early on, I didn’t read the label and just thought I use it as a conventional spray. It obviously works with water because it’s touted on the bottle as a great drying agent, so when I sprayed it on the car, it was too thick. It works wonders when you dilute it 1:8 ounces… Spreads and flashes off much easier now, and I no longer spray the car, I spray the applicator..... Much better results this time around.
That being said, it works about the same way as McKees 10 minute sealant, or the blackfire SIO2 spray. I can’t see much of a difference in the results when I do them side-by-side…all work great. |

Yeah. Diluted it 1:7, works way better than undiluted.
Also, I dry the car first, then use it diluted, avoids waste. Going to try 1:15 and 1:20 next. |

Yeah, I think if you’re cleaning up after a wash and you want a topper, even more dilution will work fine…

I am afraid to use it on my 50th as the hood and trunk have the black matte vinyl stripe. Do I have to use painters tape to avoid overspray or better not use it at all? @pondo had already bad an experience.

I really won't be surprised if Meguiar's "lowers the price" but it ends up being diluted. I don't even know what I am at after I first diluted it a few weeks ago in my last few posts, but it is easier to use. I also found that soaking then wringing out your towel as much as you can, and then doing a final wipe, knocks out the streaking.

After a few rain storms the streaks went away. I'm pretty sure my hood wasnt wet enough to spread the product properly. The vinyl beads water like crazy that's for sure. I'm going to spray it diluted this weekend and see how it turns out.

I use it on my Silverado and my wife's Jeep.
I spray it on, wipe it off like a quick detailer. Then I use TEC582 Ceramic Detailer to finish both vehicles off. The paint on both vehicles looks wet and when it rains, the water practically jumps off the paint. Bonus... TEC582 smells like bubblegum instead of chemicals.

I was actually pretty surprised with how well it worked. I think I used way too much, and I only did it 1 time on my very first car wash several weeks ago. Was coming home yesterday in the rain and smiled when I saw the beads still going strong on the hood.

On my garaged camaro it's lasted almost 2 months so far. Crazy beading and water repelling. On the uncovered cx-5, it lasted less than 5 weeks, for reference.
Had a lot of love bugs on the front end after a 200 mile drive. Sprayed some rainx waterless on the front end. Wiped the bugs off with a wet microfiber towel. Easy, no pressure needed. I like. |

Used on Black Ford F-150
I used it back in March on my black truck. I did the method to apply it with an applicator the first time around. When I washed the truck 2 weeks later, I saw a spot on the drivers lower door where the water was not beading up. I just did the spray on rinse off method only to that section, that time. So far the water is still beading up and the shine is still there. The truck is garage kept, but I have driven it in some good downpours last weekend, and a couple of weekends before that.
